Hi Valery,
Excellent work. The lady is very life like and the background is very interesting as well.
Exceptionally good as always, Valery.
The fabric is great, the skin textures also .. BUT ..
... the chest doesn't look right to me, the rest seems to be back to front and why oh why did you cover the face with hair?
Not that there is anything wrong with the hair itself ...
Val Val Val! This piece is marvelous! I can feel the softness of her arms. I love the folds/wrinkles in her clothes. Her hair came out fantastic! You constantly amaze me. And... it's great to see your new avatar! You are a handsome man.
Val,
You're amazing. It would be really something if you could ever find the time to school the rest of us on how you do such marvelous work; you know, a tut on one aspect at a time. Maybe starting with just the clothing or hair or some other aspect.
This, however, would be extremely time consuming for you and not practical to take on.
Thanks so much for sharing your amazing works here. You truly inspire all of us.

Val,
As always, your skills and good judgement inspire! The Visitor is a joy to see -- thanks for sharing it with us.
I don't want to be nit-picky but I humbly suggest the floor shadows are not up to the same standards as the rest of the drawing. The level of realism breaks down a bit for me at the floor. I do like the floor colour and how it works with the rest of the drawing but wonder if it needs some reflective sheen etc to make it more grounded. Perhaps that's something to think about.
Regards, Ross (your student) :)
Bravo! :)
Isn't it too dark?
(Не мрачновато?)
again, just amazing. From the dimples in her elbows to the tension in her skirt.... just amazing. Even her fingernails are appropriately toned (yes... i zoomed in at 400%).
There is a trace of your signature 'ellipse method' in her right arm, but i can see no area that is not smooth and appropriate. This must take you countless hours.
I envy your students.
geo.
Thank you all for good comments.

When my portrait will put on the wall of a museum, I will see all visitor faces.

I`m afraid you know everything I can to say. But anyhow later I will show first steps of this picture and I hope you will understand the last ones.
Ross, you are right about shadows. I was tired and it was too late at night (5 a.m.) or very early morning , but I try to finalize the picture and so I did miscellaneous without necessary attention.

because all colors I used are named I did “light version” for discussion.
Я сначала хотел в красноватых тонах сделать фон , чтобы оттенить еще один смысл слова визитор- менструация, но передумал.

Yes, I used photo for referencing . I wrote earlier, that I can`t to draw such difficult pictures from my mind. Only interpretation.
Breathtaking. Problem is I'm not sure if it's your skill that's taking my breath away, or the woman. I guess it's both.
Thanks for posting such wonderful work.
Paul
Now its just good with lighter background ! ! !
И правильно.
------------------------------------
А насчёт волос, это правильно - я тоже хотел бы узнать как они сделаны. Давно хотел один портрет по фотке нарисовать, но на волосах запнулся. Не планшетом рисовали?
How about hair? Was it tablet?
Stunning!!!! I liked the dark backround more though, because the painting she's looking at is more interesting in dark colours then in these light tones. And the contrast between the dark painting and the light girl is captivating.. But maybe for the whole of the graphic the lighter one is better...I don't know.. But again: wonderfull artwork ! :)
I did here hair without tablet and comb only mouse.
Here down I put 4 pictures of 4 head layers (for better editing if necessary) which are also steps, I created here hairs.
continue
Avesome!
The image is so real that I think I am in love and I have not even seen her face :)
Gary
Another cracking illustration, well done sir. But someone should tell this girl that you dont wear black & white shoes with her clothes and hair colouring it is just uncool.
After a hard days work , doing something you do just for the money, and come home to see a post as incredible as this, one is left in absolute amazement. Posts like this put things in perspective.
Bravo

I`m so sorry that I was out of forum so long time. It is so many new interesting work here. The picture I`ve dropped here show steps of drawing the girl blouse. Hope it is useful for somebody.

Thank you Valery, 'tis an education examining your work.
Valery,
Thanks so much. I've been thinking of doing another portrait myself lately. I appreciate you sharing your work with us so much. You have just the right touch on the many and varied nuances of shading and light. All your work should be on Xaraxone.
Thanks again.
ron
Your work is always exquisite and raising the bar. Why did I have to be so short?!?!?
I just happend to find this Work of Valery's while looking for something else. Equisite! Fantastic and just about any other plattitude would far far short for this one....

It´s a honnor to me that you have seen my drawings I always look for your drawings you are the best 458 ellipses he he
That's simply fantastic work Valery.
OK, it's been a LONG time since this thread was started, but I came across an old link.
Personally I think this was the best artwork created with Xara ever. Worth a second look.
ah the days when is was a drawing app....
lots more great stuff here:
https://www.xara.com/us/gallery/#!
check out the photo realistic tab
my point really I suppose, back then it wasn't - you could create website asset such as buttons, but it had not gone fully in that direction, you could count the number of TG website related queries on the fingers of one hand; now it's the other way round...
Exactly.
Anyway, people evolve, software evolves and directions change and it can be very unproductive living in the past.
I came across this link because of an old email. Other emails from that period made me think "How the heck did I do all this stuff?", and a very few "What the heck is this about?"!
I think we've forgotten about Xara as an art/illustration programme and most people have moved on to alternatives.. ..including me.
Thanks for posting that handrawn. Those were the glory days when lots of people participated and TG was still a vital and fun place to be and although still wet behind the ears I learned a lot. This got me wondering if we started doing some really nice work if just perhaps we might spark some interest and get more participation again maybe not to it's former glory
i learned a lot. You got me wondering if
