Howdo I print a sheet of labels?
I've been using Corel Draw for a number of years and have just started with Xara Graphics. In Corel I can create a label and then print multiple copies of it on a sheet of perforated cards or self adhesive labels. Corel has a list of pre-defined labels and can accept custom sizes. Is there a similar facility in Xara, or will I have to continue with Corel?

All you have to do is design your own.
Mark out printable lines that define where you think the perforations are going to end up, using a ruler. Print that and adjust.
Each cell is now a printable area so fit your graphics and text inside . Soft-group all these and clone and reposition into the remaining cells.
If you are after entering changeable text then you would have to Name each unique attribute and use an input form and code to put into place across all the cells.

Funnily enough I've just been doing exactly that. As Acorn states you may need to create your template but if you're using Avery labels you can download templates for their label products.
Import that into xara and use it as a guide to enter the required label text.
Clone & move to the last righthand top label.
Then blend with the required number of steps.
Group these top labels.
Clone and move to bottom row.
Blend with the required number of steps.
Print a test sheet.
You may require some minor adjustments.
If it's just one address or a group of different address's it shouldn't be a problem. Mail Merging will take extra work.

I have not found my desktop printer (HP OfficeJet 6958) to be accurate when I try to print something like this. It can be off by quite a bit.

It is times like this I wish there was a "Like" button.
That said, because I like using my Xara application more for many things than CD, one can create the design in an Xara application and bring it into CD and impose from it...but I would still use my dedicated imposition application.
I have 40-50 label designs I used XDP for that I replicate the one into proper positions and use Avery labels. Never had an issue them printing onto the label sheets properly.
The below are one of the personal projects...which reminds me I should get busy on some BBQ sauce and their labels for this year...

Yes, it can require a bit of amendment gary, but once set up & saved it's fine.
Re: Howdo I print a sheet of labels?
You have to make sure that you print at 100%, not "fit to page" or "fit to margins" or etc. Also make sure you select the right page size, e.g. A4 to match the size of the sheet of labels. The printer driver might complain that it's not going to fit, but that's usually because there are lines that indicate where the labels are and these will extend outside the printable area which doesn't matter because you don't print them.
Re: Howdo I print a sheet of labels?
My experience is the same as jaydear. I have used a business and return label template in Xara for quite some time. Mine is saved as guide lines. A one-time calculation and using the properties in guides creates a lifetime template. BTW, I used CD for many years and it is good for printing, embroidery, silkscreen, etc. but overkill for the majority of what I do. Also, CD no longer has a web publishing program and the NetObjects version that was available was not designer friendly. IMHO

Many thanks for all the good solutions, advice, and suggestions. It's not quite as simple and straightforward as CD but certainly doable. I'll read up on templates.

We also BBQ or smoke meat year round. During the nicer spring or fall days, we may have a backyard get together with 10 or more family/friends. Summer time that number rises to 30 and sometimes more people. So we can go through a lot of sauce a year ourselves.
The years we've done BBQ sauce, I'll usually make a couple gallons and package the gifts into quart jars.
The image below is of my youngest son and my granddaughter at an April backyard BBQ a couple years ago (we didn't even get the backyard fully mowed before people started arriving). She's gnawing on a pork rib that just came off the smoker.

Yep, I also make some pounds of rub to give it away as a gift for friends.
I/we like grilling, cooking on fire and if I speak for me smoking. When the hole family come together all methods to BBQ must be on fire.
