I had to play around with the extrude tool.
Cool  :D
Awesome fun. I'm downloading trial now. Can't wait...

This can become very addictive
What is this new tool. xara.com doesn't mention anything.
The new version of Xara Xtreme (Version 4) has been released today.
See this thread ....... http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=31909
Many (but not all) of the tools and features of Xara3D are now encorporated into the just pre released XaraXtreme4.
Extrusion/extruding is the process of turning a 2D shape into a 3D shape as shown in post #1
Unless you want the animation, Xara 3D6 in now pretty much done for drawing purposes ... or am I wrong (again) ...
Me too.Just a quick test of the facility
Cool stuff. I'll have to check out that new version.
If you know how to make animation files in Xtreme then you can make the 3D animations from within Xtreme. YOu dont have all of the controls and options such as in the 3D program but you could still come up with some nice animation files. A quick sample I tried.
Just one more quickie to show that you can now do 3D animation from Xtreme 4. Now could someone make my logo 3D and make it spin for me ? Please? :)
I did my family crest in 3d. This function is GREAT!

Looks Nice Ron!
it is fun
Norman, Bruce, Ron, and Steve; I'm glad to see others like the Extrude Tool :)
Bruce your images show that it is possible to create custome animations that are not currently available in Xara3D6.
no time for animations at the moment :(:D
I'm having fun:D
Ron you can control the movement of an extruded shape using the dropdown list and select an Angle.
Frances I think having fun is the most important component of Xara programs. :)
This would have taken ages with 3D6 - Font is CLAW exploded and coloured to suit.
Well done Bruce. I used to be hooked on animations and adding them to e-mails, but I haven't done any for quite a while.
Re-rendered entirely within XXP4, an image I originally made with Xara3D two or three years ago. I still had the original XaraX vectors and textures. I don't throw anything like that away if I can help it!
The only compromise I had to make for XaraXtremePro4 was that a couple of parts needed sliced to allow them to be both in front of and behind other parts due to the difference in the way that Xara3D and XXP4 handle multiple objects in 3D space. It has turned out pretty much identical to the X3D version.
I won't be throwing away Xara3D just yet, as it has more flexibility in the 3D environment than XXP4 has at the moment, though I'm sure that will come in the next version or so.
Mike
Lovely work, Mike.
Like you, I throw nothing away - hence the need for external drives.
But, what is it? My first guess is an astrolabe. Anyhoo, it's a great reincarnation of a piece of Xara3D work. As you say, no need to throw
away the X3D software just yet, but who knows, the potential of the release of XXP4 is enormous.
Saludos,
Bob.
Oh I will certainly not throw 3D6 away, first for the animation and
the easy export options, I need avi for I want to do video and I can
make a spinning logo in the corner with a green background and export that as avi, so 3D6 certainly has it purpose for me yet.
(and I also make SWF files for paltalk, just to make some nice things
for when I am on cam)
Bob, it is a pocket sundial from the days before pocket watches. It would fold flat for putting in a pocket, and the user would fold out the inner ring, and orient the sundial north/south, adjust it for latitude, etc, and dangle it from the ring. You can still buy modern versions.
Mike
Can you extrude an object with a vanishing point perspective?
good one bill, a very good effect! rog
Hi guys,
Note that feathering also works on extrudes
That depends on how determined and inventive you are ;)
..a little rough... but you should get the point (no pun intended :))
Wow, lots of cool work done with this new version.
Nice work Steve. Would you be able to do the same thing with text?
...I expect so Keith :)
You're too good! You must explain how you did that. Offhand I can't think of a way, but I'm very much a novice with Xara.
Keith it's not as difficult as it may seem - quite the opposite.
Simply create your extruded object apply a full perspective value of 64.
Now clone your object, scale it down, set to back and align it to the tail of the top object until it matches..
Continue this process untill you run out of zoom levels ;)
Once grouped you can duplicate them and rotate as necessary with the axis set to the tail (vanishing point).
Then play with the colours if you like.
Yes, it is marvelous. I needed to draw a box for something and boxes are a pain in the arm to draw and get perspectives right etc. Two objects, two minutes and a nicely lit box with the extrude tool. Plus the .xar file is almost a factor of 3 times smaller than the jpg.
Alright, I opened the box but there was nothing in it! :D
Oh crap, the deadly snake must have got out.
