Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
Hi-
When using the clone tool I often have to perform a number of little
adjustments and it get tedious seeing a slew of white dotted clone lines
from previous manuever.
Is there a way to hide those previous attempts?
Would I "flatten image" after each one?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

Hmmm, well, I'm still on XDP 16.
Maybe it was something improved upon?
Basically, I draw a circle around an area and either magic erase or move the piece manually.
Then go back to main cursor. Now, I see more areas that need tweaking, so I click the clone stamper
and there is the previous circle or shape of white dotted lines. I can of course keep going but if there's
a number of fixes, I now have a dish of dotted white line spaghetti and it becomes impossible to SEE
the additional little tweaks to fix.
Thanks for point out no problems in 18 though.

Bob, please submit your file
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
I don't have a file at present.
Was merely asking if someone had a fix for the repetitive dotted lines
that appear when going back to area to continue tweaking additional areas of the image.
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
In my opinion that just should not happen no matter which version you are using.

I just did a quick example of what I see when
going back to the clone tool having done a few previous
attempts. I hope the attachment works...

Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
can you select those dotted areas and move them off the pasteboard or delete them, is everything grouped something doesn't look right
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
Nope, when I click the stamper icon clone tool it merely shows me the pencil
again to add another shape to make. No way to select all per se. Maybe I'm doing
something wrong? My method is to click the stamper icon, draw a circle or shape, hit
magic erase or move the inside manually and then click the cursor arrow icon again.
When I do, all the dotted lines vanish of course....BUT...when I click the stamper again,
any and all previous outline dots re-appear.
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
It's showing every area that's been cloned to allow you to adjust ANY previously cloned area. Double click any of the area's to make fine adjustments as necessary. It's supposed to work that way.
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
That seems overly complicated to me, I tried to duplicate from your description and could not duplicate your problem I tried making a circle, then a freehand shape always with the same result, so I wonder if your file is corrupted, or you need to run your program as administrator, this only needs to be done once, at any rate something is amiss and your program should not be acting like that. Do you have your setup to reinstall or otherwise have access to it?
Just for the record How I do it is create my shape put a line around it or create the shape and clone then if you want the line and shape separate clear line color from one and fill color from the other.

Thank you Keith I didn't know that.

Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
Keith-
I think you're right...in regards to the way it's supposed to be. It's been like that
for me through a number of versions of XDP. I knew about double clicking to readjust
but was just wondering if those previous dotted lines could be hidden. Again, I don't need
to do it much but for very complex things that are close together, it's hard to see through the lines.
Anyway, thank you both for your input. Appreciated.
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
BobH - To the best of my knowledge when you modify an image with the Clone Tool, the only way to eliminate the dashed line around the clone shape, is to do what you have already one, Flatten the image. Once you have done that however, the cloned area can no longer be modified or removed.
Re: Remove Previous "Clone Tool" Lines Possible?
Thanks GW...I pretty much figured that one out...so I'll just have to be very satisfied with each iteration.
OKAY, thanks all, case closed. '-)
