Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Arrrrrrrr....
and all that Pirate Talk.
Here's the challenge.
Using Xara Xtreme or one of it's precedents or Xara LX, make a transparent beer glass (containing beer of course.)
- You can use no plugins, nor any external program,
- You must use a glass transparent container, containing beer.
- You must like beer (well maybe not that one.)
- You must supply a wireframe from the Xara Program you use along with the image.
There will be no prizes other than gloating rights for your geographic regions on having the Best Transparent Beer Glass Maker in the Entire World. Or some such title. :D
The winner will be announced by whoever or is that whomever? Maybe somebody will volunteer. :)
Here's my entry and its animated! Take that ya scurvy Pirates! Arrrrrr...
Representing the first entry from Team U.S.A. in the World Beer Cup/Mug/Glass Competition, Jamesmc! (jeers and boos from the crowd)

Looks as though this thread has dried up James, mebbe they have all gone teetotal, can't be that I'm teetotal myself.
-
Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Maybe not enough beer drinkers here. I like the idea of the challenge though. I will have to work on a big mug when I get time and post it here.

Okay i followed Gary`s advice, I set a glass fill it with beer and try
to draw it, everytime I want to start it seems to have evaporated
and by now I am starting to see double. ;)

Good thing Jamesmc decided to stick with beer instead of whiskey or vodka. My suggestion Popeye is trying drawing in a cooler area, may not evaporate quite as fast but something tells me there is more than just evaporation happening here. I hope the evaporation is happening from the right side of the glass.......try turning a full glass upside down and see if it is written "drink and evaporate from other end" If your sitting at a table with 5 or 6 friends, you may have to turn over all their full glasses also to check for the message.....good luck....frank

Perhaps they are terrified of our beer draughting skills?
They should draw upon their beer talents and imbibe the spirit of pure art. :D

Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
I like the aerated bubbles Eric, I tried to incorporate them in my drawing but gave up they looked too artficial.
-
Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
I don't know about this thread. It looks like everybody is starting out with a full glass and good intentions to do the best drawing but I gather everybody is drawing from memory after about 5 minutes. Good old Popeye acknowledges his limitations in this contest......lack of a beer glass drawing plugin......mind you all the results are all very well done except for the two that didn't happen from Popeye.......good luck and happy researching to all.........frank

Hi guys
Instead of competing against all this talent, which I can't and couldn't, I have decided instead on reinventing the wheel, in other words to try to fill all the nitches that need specialty glasses. My first effort is for Popeye incase the dikes decide to leak......frank

Okay, I tried, I am now very drunk but I made it.
I hope there are no plugins in here for I can`t remember how I did it.:D
It has some beer left in it so I hope it is enough for the contest.:o
Okay here we go, for the fourth time for I can`t see that straight anymore ;)
Well one part of the contest I atleast apply for, for sure
I love  beer

Beer is life, isnt'it?

Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
I would have liked to have entered this competition but I don't qualify: I am teetotal.
Anyway I thought the main theme was translucency. That is why the original post showed objects passing from the back.
I am quite disapointed! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
Cool

Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Creating a beer glass is a little bit tricky. Therefore, I need a little bit more time - perhaps I'll finish my contribution within the next few days... :)

Beer glass on a beer mat, containing a nice beer. Its not 'real ale' but its better than larger.

Derek,
Would you say your drinking habits are getting larger?

Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Never thought to use a beer mat, good idea. All of the drawings seem to be of larger thought I would change that so here is my pint of heavy or as it is called in England Bitter, red or brown beer in the states. In the drawing don't like the foam or the bubbles and the condensation on the outside of glass is too large but hey ho its completed and I still wished I had used a beer mat.

The perspective is all wrong but I think the over all effect is good.

This is asbestos I could do, folks. I'm still trying to figure it all out. It would help, of course, to have an actual model in front of me, but they keep disappearing...

It's almost enough to make one take up drinking again.

Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Why do you have to drink beer always out of a beer glass? How about a more elegant approach...
-
Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Boots, slippers, bowls...as long as they are transparent, the container doesn't matter.

para: Now, that's the idea! But wouldn't it be simpler to just run an IV?

What is IV Interveinous?
Thanks Salaam, yes tap was drawn with xara.

Re: Transparent Beer Glass Contest
Yes. IV = intravenous, directly into the vein. Of course, you could always just dump it into the toilet and eliminate the middle man, but that's no fun.
