So sorry to hear of your loss Rich.
That's very sad news, Rich. I know she was a good friend.
Remember the good times.
Best regards,
Bob.
Rich, please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your friend. I still ache for my pup after all these years and know how your loss can tear at your heart. May Mook meet you again someday.
No matter how old or young, a beloved pets passing is never easy to take. Never forget the good times, the trying times and the fun times and Mook will continue to live on in in your memory. I'll raise a glass with you, Rich, and give a heartfelt toast to Mook. Thanks for sharing several pictures of Mook with us over the years here on TG.
My wife works with several Veterinarians, animal shelters and rescue groups and we've had our fair share of successes and losses over the last few years. The attached is one of the first things I did for her using XX. I revisit it and reprint it periodically when needed. It always seems to bring a tear to my eye. You've probably seen it, but, if not, may it warm your heart and bring a tear to your eye, too.
To Mook's new adventures,
Harry
.
Rich: My deepest sympathies for your loss.
Harry: That is beautiful, I did indeed tear up.
Im very sorry to hear of your loss Rich. As it says in Harry's post, Mook is in a good and safe place now and someday you will be reunited. when my last friend passed, Midnight , I had to take her to the vet and have her put to sleep. She was a very sweet and special friend and the vet gave me that poem. It did make me cry but at the same time it helped me to feel better knowing that we will together again.
Very sorry to hear of Mook's passing.
Hi Rich,
It's very sad to hear about Mook. After all these many years I feel like I've known both Kai and Mook well. I know this is very difficult for you and Laura, especially since Mook had the good health report back in April.
A comforting thought; Mook and Kai will be together again, playing on the beaches and enjoying each other's company.
My best wishes to you and Laura,
I don't know about Mook. I don't share the history ... but serious emotion is shared, because you clearly care so deeply Please. take care.
Very sad news Rich. I realise she was very dear to you. My sympathies.
Rich,
So very sorry to hear of Mook's passing. I know Mook lived a great life and was loved dearly.
Mike
Rich, I'm so sorry.............
Thanks for letting us know Rich.
My sympathies.
Mook was a part of this forum through you, she will be missed.
Thanks everyone,
When they told me I only had three months, I retired to be able to be with Mook and Kai as long as possible. Fortunately, I was always there for them. So, I am very pleased.
Rich
The on going saga.
After Mook's passing, Laura decided to go on a trip to euorpe. She went to see thing she had always dreamed about. She made it home a couple of days ago saying she by someone with a very bad cold on the plane. She thought she was coming down with a cold. I foiund her on the floor this morning, and took her to the doctor. This was very difficult since she was unable to move, and couldn't communicate. So, I spent the day at ER. She had Meningitis and was extremely ill. She is in ICU. Antibotics take a while and I can only wait.
Since I was exposed, I got an antibotic along with everyone we had met.
Rich
Rich,
My best wishes to Laura and yourself.
My thoughts are with Laura and you in this difficult time Rich. Fingers crossed for the hope in your heart.
My prayers are with you and Laura, Rich.
Rich I'll keep you and Laura in my heart and mind.
I was exposed to meningitis in 1967 when I worked the Emergency Room of General Hospital in Nashville. Treatment and medications of today are more effective and they were very efficient back then.
I got a lot of drug abuse and sucide questions at ER. Those cases are the highest percentage at ER. The main reason you have to wait forever to get help. The other reason was the symptoms. They really had no idea of what the cause could be. I was aware enough of medications, but not the doses. Good things to know at times. I track the meds, but not good at saying the names. I went over those things with the ICU doctor.
Laura's temperature is down, and she is continuing the antibiotics. I believe she is getting several different ones. Still sedated.
Rich
That's tough Rich.
I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Laura.
I wish I could be there with and for you, but sadly I can't.
Take care.
Sorry to hear this. my best wishes are with you and Laura
Oh my, that is terrible news Rich. I am glad that Laura is getting good care and hopefully she is strong enough to fight this illness. They will see when she is well that there is no abuse or suicide. People react differently to disease and Laura's symptoms confused them. I pray she will recover quickly.
Rich,
Thinking of you! I hope you will have Laura home soon.
Risto
Rich,
I had only a vague notion of what meningitis was. I looked it up, though, and it sounds fairly nasty. The good thing is it appears to be treatable and expectations of a full recovery run high when antibiotics are administered early on. My thoughts are with both of you. May the other passengers on Laura's flight fare well, also.
Have you considered contacting the airline? Maybe they could alert the other passengers to be on the lookout for early symptoms of infection? Just a thought as I don't know what their policy is for something like that.
Wishing Laura a speedy recovery,
Harry
Harry,
There are too many probable sources to know where the problem came from. I discussed this with the doctor. The person on the plane could have been anywhere on the plane. There isn't a way to isolate the cause. If there were multiple occurences, the chance would be better. Then someone would be calling us.
They ran some test today, but didn't have the results. I'll be there tomorrow.
Rich
Too true, I guess, Rich. I didn't see it (or maybe retain it) when I was reading up on the symptoms but did you happen to hear what the gestation/incubation period is for meningitis?
Just curious...
Rich, everybody has said everything already. Just adding my best wishes.
Rich, as Egg has said... my best wishes too
Laura will be in ICU for another day. It takes longer for the antibiotics to work in the brain. A CT scan of the brain didn't see any adverse effects. Maybe tomorrow they will remove the breathing tube.
I'll be spending my birthday by myself.
Rich
You could come here for some virtual birthday cake and beer. I've already cracked one open in your honor :) Happy Birthday hon
Let's hope that Laura is off of the tube tomorrow and feeling better soon so she can come home.
Stick in there Rich, we're all behind you.
Many of the members here have expressed my thoughts Rich but I am wishing Laura and yourself the strength to fight and to overcome the problem. I am with Egg here, "Stick in"
It's been a tough year for you, wishing you and Laura well.
Yvonne
Fifth day in ICU and counting. Still not ready to breathe on her own. Doing better though.
Rich
Hang in there Rich. Make sure you take care of yourself too!
Just came back from ICU. Talked to Laura for a while. She wanted to come home. I'll see how things are going tomorrow.
Rich
Rich,
It sounds as if Laura is well on the road to recovery. What are the doctors saying about her progress? Are they starting to, at least, talk about moving her out of ICU or will they send her straight home right from there?
Thanks for letting us know how Laura is doing on a regular basis. I check every time you post an update.
Wishing you both well,
Harry
