Thanks for the tuts, questions and answers. I've been fooling around trying learn a bit more and reading the various Xara 3D6 threads have helped a lot.
It took me a while, but now some moderate success... thanks again!

I like it - cool animation =D>
Well done, that man! That's a clean, solid image and animation. Be proud. A lot of people just don't get this far.
Mike
Very Well done! :)
Thank you for your kind and very generous comments... I appreciate it.
I had fun making a bunch of variations trying to get one that I liked.
I think it's very Well done too!
Thanks wizard509!
Well, I had to try the spinning coin bit. I decided to 'flip' it for fun.
Xara 3D has become addictive for me, to say the least.
Xara 3D is addictive. :D
Your animation is mesmerizing. :)
Another great job :thx
Now for something completely different... lol!
I like that! It's addictive, isn't it?
Mike
Great animations LWC,
I hope no-one thinks that the last 2 can be solely created in X3D.
I look forward to seeing more of your posts, keep it up.
Yep, one requires at least a drawing and graphics program to make textures. And some sort of gif animation software...
Xara 3D is my newest program, all of my other software used here is at least ten years old.
One more for amusement purposes only... ha!
Okay, I'm still foolin' around... sometimes when I look at this one, I like the design. However, next time I look at it I feel that it just has no merit at all.
I weathered the button texture on the front and mirrored the backside to look very aged with no lighting or color.
Just experimenting...

Those are so cool them knocked me silly

Great job. =D>=D>
Thanks wizard509!
My "test" relates to this off topic thread re: animated avatars.
http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...imated-Avatars
I wanted to use an animated avatar, but the forum just won't let me do it. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
If I upload the animation shown as "test" (7.3 kb) it will not work. If I link to a URL it will not work. I uploaded it here as an attachment and tried to duplicate what others had done, I get an "invalid file" message.
Perhaps I am simply "blocked" from any sort of animated avatar... or I am just to "thick headed" to figure out how to do it properly. Oh well, it's certainly not important...
you are still tagged as a 'new member' - it may be you will not get animated privilege until you reach the required number of posts [same as private messages AFAIK]
Thanks handrawn!
That may well be the problem! I looked through the FAQ and could find nothing regarding a required number of posts to be a "real" member.
At my pace of 0.05 posts per day, it could take years... LOL!
around 25 I think.... :) [posts that is, not years...]
I'm not far away then if 25 is the magic number...
Since I hijacked my own thread, I will move it back to "page breaks and changing textures".
Should now be 25...
What excellent progress you're making! :thx
Thank you sir!
I've now made hundreds of spinning, twisting, flopping around, and other various designs. Some just for learning more about what can be done, some for use on other forums and the like.
The magic number was indeed 25, I can now use animated avatars...
And I can see you will be regaling us with them for a long time to come :)
Hello Iwc,
I love the coin spin. Would you consider doing the same thing with coin imagery I supply to you? Do you do this type of animation professionally?
Welcome to TalkGraphics john burwell
Most of the spinning animation has been done in Xara 3D Maker. http://www.xara.com/us/products/xara3d/
It is a fun and inexpensive way to create some fun animations, including spinning objects.
Hello John!
I just make them for fun... you may be able to download a trial version of Xara 3D maker from the link that gwpriester posted.
If you post the artwork/image of the coin you want, I'm sure many users on this forum will help you get started and achieve the results you would like.
That didn't work... :-O nevermind!
As there are not very many X3D Maker tutorials at all most peeps have to learn as they go. But personally although I really do enjoy the prog I just dont find enough time with all the other software I use to progress with it very fast.
I find with most graphics softwares theres tutorials of all levels made by the manufacturer but more importantly by peeps who use it.
Ive seen some great little animations simple or not and can sometimes figure out how theyre done - Mixing X3DM7 with photoshop.
BUT it would be excellent if members shared more of their knowledge with us peeps who unfortunately dont have the time to learn as fast as we want :)
