OK Xarians ... time to STOP what you are doing and POST whatever it is you are working on right now. It doesn't need to be finished ... the idea is to show the variety of different projects that XaraX is used for every day. It may be a birthday card ... or a billboard ad. Whatever it is ... POST IT!
Here's mine.

Ok Ed,
I don't have XaraX, I have Corel Xara.
I needed a lightning bolt.
1. I made a drawing in Xara
2. I exported to Photoshop and inverted.
3. I imported into ZBrush as alpha to make 3D.
4. Used the 3D model in this image.

Hey ...this is FUN http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif We should do it more often.
MIKE B: I like the skull, snake, eagle, lightning bolt thing ... reminds me of a Conan movie. The snake thru the eye socket is a nice touch.
JOLANDE: I'm going to send you a ticket to Bubbles Anonymous http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Nice fish ... I'm getting hungry.
RISTO: Always thinking outside the box ... actually I'm wondering whats behind one of them. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
BILL: Nice to know I'm not the only one spending my weekend staring at a monitor http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif You have some nice lighting effects going there ... and is that a banana tree?
TIM: I thought for a second there I was on the Discovery channel watching Orange County Choppers ... cool flames http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
MIKE E: I've seen that scene before ... but I won't tell you what I was drinking http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
SOQUILI: BRILLIANT ... SIMPLY BRILLIANT! Can't wait to see the finished portrait.
Thank you all for sharing your posts!

JOHN: You slipped that one in on me. Looks like you're doing work ... sounds familiar. Do you do the video work as well, or does someone else cut the video into your green screen?

Was forced to STOP last wk. when computer was annexed by grandchildren on half-term. This is what the 7 yr old is doing. His first effort after some basic tuition and an hour's total absorbtion on his part - he's hooked! He says it's not finished yet but I can post it anyway.

Hello Johnlogan,
Beautiful drawing of a southern european in stereotypical garb. Do a little research into native american facial characteristics and traditional garb. Native americans get very upset with the anglo stereotypes(like lawsuit time). If it is for more than a personal site, do a little research. Your babe, looks like a 30's hollywood stereotype.
Just my 2 cents worth. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Usually have two or three on the go… Been going back and forth on this one for some time (sorry about the pun). Still not happy with it – most likely end up in the never finished folder.

Why is it that you're not happy with it? To me it looks great. I'm really curious why you have doubts about this one.
Jolande
-
Kind of hard to explain Jolande –
You know that a picture is starting to 'work' when you feel better and better about it each time you spend time on it – it all starts to fit together nicely. I’ve gotten to feel less and less excited about this one as I’ve gone along. And I’m looking at maybe 30% more work to do on it..
I do like the chair and the floor but the rest of the objects just don’t seem to work that well together or are causing me problems. Like, the light source which is a bit iffy anyway and the window needs curtains and the curtains are going to mess up the light source on the chair in a big way http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
One good thing is that I always seem to learn more with pictures that don’t work out so well http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Best wishes,
Steve

Steve,
How about adding a black and white portrait photo (picture frame) on the wall to the left of the lamp, and a cup of tea and some biscuits on the sidetable (but you might have to move the lamp a bit to the right, or make it smaller in order to get some room for it?) Some slippers in front of the rocking shair, and mouse hole (entrance) on the floor board on the right hand side... with a mouse raising in there with a biscuit... chased by a cat streaking across the orange carpet? How about a folded newspaper on the rocking chair?
The only object sticking out to me as missing some detail, is the lamp cover. A bit more definition there, and the white area won't be as overpowering.
I think you have something going here - don't give up on it. I think you are doing great. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I've been working on stationery backgrounds using cars. These would be used in Outlook or Outlook Express. This one shows the Phantom. In the stationery the car appears only at the top of the stationery and it has a version of "Phantom of the Opera" playing in the background.

Thank you all for participating in the STOP and POST! I wasn't sure what reaction I would get when I suggested it ... but true to form you all gave a little of yourselves to make us all better as a whole http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I'm going to ask that the thread die now, as it is getting a bit large ... but I retain the right to call for a STOP and POST again in the future to see the wonderful ways in which your creativity comes to life.
Thank you all again.
