Which I thought was fantastic so I've been trying to replicate it. Mine is different as the spiral doesn't decrease in size as it shrinks in and I've also cocked up the 24 hour numerals. It was fun to do. Reminded me of many years ago following Gary's XaraXone tutorials:

Heh heh, Love it, Egg.
Facebook has kicked me out of my administration position on our eyeTricks page. I have no idea why, and good luck trying to get any kind of answer from that outfit. So I now have to respond to comments as Gary Priester and not as eyeTricks. And since I try to keep politics out of our page, I had to ditch my Ukraine support profile pic for someone less controversial.

If you use an Art Brush or built-in stoke you have to crack open the spiral.

Not sure if this is what you mean Egg, but if you convert the spiral to curves, then use the Shape Tool and Reverse Paths.
I use this all the time when working with the Art Brush.

Gary, Egg applied this way in his video.

@Egg, you can Fit Blend to Curve, which is a quick way to get a smooth scaling inwards:
The action unfortunately changes the Spiral to a Line but at least you can Reverse Path.

Hi Guys,
Quote:
Egg, as you have used a Scatter Brush, Edit Brush > Rotation > Brush angle: 180deg and you reverse the direction.
No I'm using an art brush. To maintain a spiral as a spiral I need to create the brush back to front. See attached xar.
I'm aware there are other means of acheiving the results but I hold the spiral tool shoud allow for reversing the path whilst remaining a spiral.

I'm going senile! To reverse the path of the spiral all that's required is ti flip the spiral horizontally (use Ctrl to keep the spiral aspect locked). No need to make back to front clock faces!
But I'd still love a way to reverse the stroke path!

Egg, I think you have to agree I try to hold Xara's feet to the flames over it introducing new features that usurp its established workflow. Most of the SmartShapes have such failings.
Funny enough I was mid-flight in suggesting you just create your clock numbers the right way round but Flip both H & V before creating your Art Brush. Your approach is the quicker and more so if you just Flip H directly on the spiral.
You still have to break the SmartShape by UnGrouping to reverse Path so you can apply a Stroke to get near to Gary's original:
Totally agreed not being able to reverse path is bad.

Egg, finally cracked it! Not your shell, of course!
If I use any type of Brush, if I then apply a Stroke, it is applied inner to outer so the outside design is smaller than the inside.
Up to now, I have broken the Spiral and used Revers Path.
Instead, there are two Wind around the centre Controls.
If you drag the inside one outside and the outside one to the centre, the Path is reversed.
This retains the SmartShape functionality.
