What's the proper way to copy a nav bar? I want to copy it so that I can change it from a horizontal nav bar to a vertical but I don't want to delete the one I have, just add one similar and keep the same attributes and I'm getting an access violation.

Re: Copying Nav Bar get violation error
Sue, as described, that should simply work.
No idea why it isn't other than the usual right-click the application and pick Run as Admin for one session.

Thanks, Acorn. It only had the problem with one pre-made from the catalog, just that one. I grabbed another one and it copied just fine.
Odd! Appreciate the thought and will try it...I bet that might work!

I'm not sure but I will include a screen shot. I hate that when I want to grab the same one, I have no idea which one it was! GRRRR.
When this happens, and it should not, try creating a new website, copy the nav bar or problem object to the new page and try the operation again. Sometimes a file gets corrupted and if it works in a new document then the problem is with the corrupted file and not the nav bar or problem object.

Tried it, still violation error and does not drop it into the new document.
AND I did try it again in the current website I am working on once more, and it gave me the violation error and then pasted it but it didn't include all the links that I had made into the one I copied.

Sue could you attach xar/web file causing this access violation?

Happy to give it a try! I have uploaded it but it doesn't show up, says waiting for TalkGraphics and then nothing.
I have tried as a .web and zipped. :( I think it's too large. How can I get you a page?
Sue

Figured out how to copy 1 page and put into new doc!
So here is a 1 page copy with that nav bar giving me issues! Hope this works!

Sue, it uploaded into TG for our download perfectly.
Also, the NavBar, copy and change to Vertical worked, without a hitch.
It's just you then!

Designer Pro X-16.1 Works for me. I used drag and right mouse button click to drop a duplicate and then edited to vertical with no problems.

Re: Copying Nav Bar get violation error
So what would make it have a violation on my computer? Any clue?

Just to let you know you're not alone Sue ;)
I had initial problems downloading your attachment (it has a double link) but somehow I eventually got it to download.
Here's the odd results I get, unlike Acorn & Gary:

So this sounds like a hardware problem? Maybe a graphics card issue?

I've asked Xara to look into this and linked to this thread.

Do you think so Gary? I only have a Windows inbuilt graphics card, nothing fancy. I would have thought Xara could handle this quite easily.
And why the memory warning? The file is only 692Kb's. Strange you & Acorn can view and amend the file whilst Sue and I have AVE's etc ???

Re: Copying Nav Bar get violation error
I can get a copy to drop into the document if I ignore the violation message and press the "x" to close, but then the links are empty, but the titles are there.
I have a graphics card, GTX1050Ti, Windows 10 Pro 64bit, 16 gigs of RAM.
Thanks, Gary, for sending the issue to be looked into...I did send a report a few times to them. This is just baffling! Let me know if you find out anything! And I will do the same.

Re: Copying Nav Bar get violation error
Is there a way to identify which Nav Bar that is in the Catalog that we are dealing with?

Re: Copying Nav Bar get violation error
If I right drag the navbar it copies without issue and I can make it vertical. However, copying either of the navbars produces the error and trying to paste into another web document causes a crash with the attached errors.
I got the usual warnings of link and hover assigned to the same button, but either ignoring or accepting the offer to remove the link made no difference.
As a workaround until something more permanent pops up, why not convert the horizontal to vertical and Save As BBVertical?
(i7, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 750 Ti, Win 10 x64) For those looking for hardware comparisons.
