Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
Thanks to all the posters on this site. I was able to find a solution to my favicon problem in this post: http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=37004 and 'semi' complete my first XWD site.
Any comments, positive and negative, on my new site will be appreciated.
It's here: http://www.theboardrock.com

10/10
Loads fast and looks great. Well done.
Note: minor issue is the 'Home' mouseover covers the Boardrock logo.
Re: Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
One tip I can give is that the few dozen graphics making up the board rock logo could be grouped together in WD so it exports as a single image instead of lots and lots of little ones. This will make it much faster to load, as the single image will be about 10 times smaller in this case (10 times faster to load) than the sum of the little ones. This is one of two optimisation techniques that is discussed here. Hope it helps.

I like the site!
How did you get the animations on the Photo page?
Re: Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
Sledger, Do you know how to stop the 'home' mouseover from going over the logo graphic?
Re: Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
Dogbertbh, I used a photo template that is provided with xwd to make the photo animations in the main section. The left photo is just a mouseover animation.
Re: Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
Xhris, I watched your optimisation video on youtube. It was very helpful and well done. When I highlight any of the logo's, which are in pdf format originally, and try to group them I lose the color layers on the front area. It effectively leaves the image with just the background.
Any ideas how to group them without that happening.
I didn't think about optimisation before, but now I know I need it.

Aqua-
NICE JOB, tasteful!
Do you know the font used for the logo? If you do then type the logo in XWD, select it, press CRTL-1, save the file, and attach the file here.
In not, post your PDF here and I will try to produce the extrusion for you that wont be so messy. I see you use a slight variation on the calender page.
Do you own Xara by any chance? If so you could use its 3D tool.

jclements, Thanks for the feedback. I do have a trial version of Xara X, but I don't know the logo font.
If you are able to get the results you want with the attached logo your instructions on how to do it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
I just opened the PDF in Xara, removed the clipview, grouped the three sets of logo objects and saved as a web file. I attached it. (Notice how the web file is half the size of the original clunky PDF too (PDF is a poor format really)).

Hi Aqua..
Nicely done site. Good use of XWD template elements. This is the kind of site that XWD was made for.

OK Aqua:
Here you go.
I made all the multiple facets for each extrusion into a single object and cleaned up any excess nodes (including .xar and .web versions)
I tried to duplicate the extrusion using Xara's 3DTool, copied that object into a Web file.
I imported "board rock" into Xara3D6, produced a couple simple flash animations and then imported those into a web file. If you have Xara3D, you can modify the extrusion, change colors, rotate the views, lighting, and create many, many types of flash animations
All files are in the ZIP attachments. You'll have to relink the flash placeholders in animation.web file and then preview and publish in order see the animations played.
Have fun,
John (Portland, OR)
If I ever get down your way, I'll have stop by and see what its all about.

Make the mouseover image for the Home button so that it shows exactly what you want ... that is, with a blue pie slice in the lower right corner.
Re: Comments on my new XWD Site? Thanks!
Thank you xhris for the rework. Very useful.
Thank you jclements for the files. I am having fun trying to change and manipulate them.

I found a solution as well to the mouseover home problem. I duplicated the logo and just set it as a mouseover layer with the home button. Seems to work. I will upload it later to try it out.
