Enjoy it.

Looks great ernie. Are those camera lenses?
One from me.
Dang, Rik, I would never have thought of that. That;s really cool! =D>=D>=D>
I thought the stand was made from the scribble line. Well however you did it it seems to work.
OK I guess I did Rik. After looking again I can see what you did, very clever.
Here's where your scribble is, Larry.
It's in there somewhere ....
I think I see it Egg. Thanks.
EDIT: BIW Good job, I like it.
I woke up this morning thinking about this. Yesterday my brain wasn't functioning properly, I hate to say it, but, neither is the entire scribble line, it looks like you broke the line and used two halves, maybe I am mistaken but I didn't think altering the line in such a manner is permitted, that is why I thought it was the white base, but, I didn't check it closely. Am I wrong?
I woke up this morning thinking about this. Yesterday my brain wasn't functioning properly, I hate to say it, but, neither is the entire scribble line,I didn't think altering the line in such a manner is permitted, that is why I thought it was the white part of the stand. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Well, I'm very confused Larry.
If you say that mine is not permitted because 'neither is the entire scribble', whatever that means?
Then please explain why Egg's Boat is allowed?
Because Egg's drawing not the entire scribble either, then.
(And I'm only using Egg's drawing as an example, not criticism. Because I think it's pretty clever.)
Yes you are right, if what I I saw was indeed the scribble, which I am not sure of then Egg broke the rule too.
Ir has always been my understanding that the scribble line must be used as submitted with the possibly exception of line weight which we voted on and is allowed. It can be added to, turned into a brush, most anything except changing the line itself as given. Isn't that the spirit of the scribble challenge? So if the white area on Egg"s boat was not made from the scribble line as provided, then yes, Egg altered the line and broke the rule by changing the angle of one leg. I noticed that too and wondered if I was not finding the line.
I would like to hear from everyone if we are in agreement on the rules. Am I right or wrong in my understanding. It's such a simple challenge, but the only rule is and has always been not altering the shape of the line submitted.
Sorry everyone we need to know what to expect. Some times I may have missed something and will try harder from here on.
I'm confused too Larry. My drawing uses the line in it's entirety such that the line (green) is added to in red to make a white shape, the hull Black is drawn above it as is the dark red Boot-Topping.
Well, that makes two of us. Egg.
I have the line in my drawing. You have the line in your drawing.
So, what is it that's wrong?
I've not changed the line. I've added to it, as you've added to it.
Without adding more to the line, I'm not sure how we're supposed to make anything?!
And, how come all of my drawings in 2017 have been OK?
Thank you, Larry! I've been playing with the art brushes lately, so tried this. All the scribble, some turned into brushes with some width and profile changes.
the shape the whole shape and nothing but the shape - some applied weight, stroke shape, fill, extrusion..
quick 'n dirty :)

Could be a new font Larry! :D
Stygg
There seems to be some confusion so I put this together.
hope it helps.
Anyway let me know if you agree or disagree, did I miss anything? Is this your understanding of how the scribble challenge works?
Talk to me please.

My problem is not that you did not use the entire line but it looks like you broke the line and used half in one place and the other half in another spot. Maybe that's what you did and maybe it isn't, only you know for sure. As to the second part I have no answer. It is not easy to spot the line sometimes, and also because I trust you.
At any rate rest assured I will be trying harder from now on. Not that that's any consolation.
Hi Larry, thanks for clarifying what is permitted. However with regard to the first rule, I think if the challenge is not Xara application specific (which I think it should be) then the original scribble drawing you provide should be in a more widely used graphical format, like .svg.
for it to be limited to xara product only, the challenges forum rule itself might need ammending:
its one of the few agnostic places left on TG, mores the pity... ;)Quote:
For community-wide challenges and contests: join in with your graphics applications of choice
It has always from the beginning that this forum has never been Xara specific and any software is permitted, such as Blender for instance. I know most of us use Xara products I know I do exclusively.
I wonder if someone forom Xara can confirm.
Thank you for your reply.
it should for TG moderators to decide, as editorially, we are supposed to be independant, and what I quoted is what it says on the board description ;)
sorry you are having difficulty seeing the shapes Larry, hang on there, we all appreciate what you do here
OK I give I just looked at the line posted xar and png. I thought it was a vertical on both ends with a curve between. at least that is what I remember doing, I must have changed it and didn't remember .
Therefore I owe both you and Egg an apology.
Sorry Rik. Sorry Egg.
Oh yeah, I looked at some of your 2017 scribble posts Rik and they were all properly done.
If my brain keeps this up someone else may need to submit the scribble lines.
Yes but this has gotten to be a serious issue, not withstanding other problems. I feel like I am no longer an asset to this community.
Larry, for heavens sake please don't see this issue as a big deal. It's not a Serious Issue, it's a very very Minor Issue.
I don't know for how many years you've run the Scribble thread but it's a thread I and many other TG members have enjoyed and contributed tremendously.
My approach to the thread has always been to download your challenge xar/web file. Look at it and see what 'dings' in my imagination. Provided the original line/shape appears within the final artwork unaltered then that's fine. If you wish to have any contributor highlight the original shape, that's no problem.
Please keep them coming, we all appreciate your input.
Egg
Thanks Egg, I do like submitting a scribble line every month.
I was not referring to the current scribble (battle?) as being the serious issue, rather other things currently weighing me down. Thank you for your comment.
I do find it weird that what I thought I submitted as the line and what was actually posted were two different things.
Ah me, I try.
Here's what 'dinged' for me this month.
