How i can activate HTMLBlockText?
You apply the name "htmlblocktext" to the section of text. See attached.
Preview then view source (Right click V)

I upgraded to Pro X recently. I am using an H1 style for a main page heading. I use HTMLBlockText but I get 2 separate lines when I view the html. What am I doing wrong?Quote:

I've tried but I cannot get multiple lines of text to show as a single H1 line in the source code. There's no telling what SEs will do when they see 2-3 H1 lines on the home page of a website so I cannot use H1s until I resolve. As Headers are larger type they will run to more than one line most often. Same would apply to H2s etc. Surely I must be doing something wrong? Just download the above .xar file and apply H1 style to the text in the bottom block and check out the source code.Quote:

Hi Gary
Not seeing that here. Htmlblocktext converts a Hx tag into a single block paragraph.
Otherwise it seems that headings are always exported as one tag per line.
For me it remains a block paragraph.Quote:

1. This does not work with 2 lines of text. You get one long string across the web page.

This is not how it was designed to work. This has to be a "working incorrectly but working as designed". I thought I left this behind in V6 >:) Somebody please tell me I'm missing something.

Hi Gary,
Have a look at this option. I have replaced the * with a placeholder containing <br>.
James - an interesting workaround, sort of. But you have to string the text out in one line for it to work. Try creating a text box with 2 lines in it - WYSIWYG - both centered in the box (header style!), but one sentenceQuote:

I wouldn't say it was a design flaw of Xara's export filter. The requirements for simplicity (no knowledge of HTML or CSS needed) may have necessitated many compromises, fixed width and absolute positioning for example. The htmlblocktext trick is itself an undocumented feature that is not guaranteed to produce pixel perfect results.
There have been many opinions on whether the use of header tags (h1-h6) does or does not assist with SEO. Pushing that aside Xara has implemented it and it only serves one real purpose - SEO. It is a design flaw because people are using the product and creating sites that might have multiple h1s on a page - clearly accepted as an SEO No-No.Quote:

Sorry, could you clarify for me? Are you talking about multiple H1s on a page or multiple H1s using different fonts, size, etc on a page? Can't see how Xara can 'fix' the former - it's down to the user and appears to be ok anyway - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIn5qJKU8VM
Two contiguous H1 tags are unlikely to cause any problems. It's not how many you use, it is how you use them and you/Xara are using them in an entirely acceptable way - as headings.
If you want to be super safe:-
- use one H1 tag for the overall title of the page
- A H2 tag for section headings
- A H3 for the second line (section sub heading)
