Would soon be okay enough for you? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
We never commit to dates, because we don't want to let people down if we decide we want to launch it on a different day.
But I believe it is soon.
Anthony,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, "soon" is good enough. We are all looking forward to the next release of XPE.

Anthony: I think the word you want is, "latter", not soon, as soon means at once, or immediately, unless that's what you really meant, but your post was almost a week ago. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I'm looking forward to it too. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Hello Doane,
You have the wrong definition of soon. Soon for a woman dialated to 20 centimenters is within seconds. Soon to a software company is "Please to not buy a competitors product before we release this dang thing. The Programmers are rowing as fast as they can, but we only have 76% power captain!" http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Does that make it any clearer?
John,
I agree, "soon" is just around the corner...won't be long now...please be patient while we try to get it done...
Maybe I shouldn't have asked the question because no matter what they say, someone will say, "well where is it" ?

Wellll.... Where is it??? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Yea, 6 weeks later............
I guess "sooner" is much longer than I had thought...........
I'll ask the question also.......where is it?
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>I guess "sooner" is much longer than I had thought........... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>On the Opera forums, when someone asks, "When will the next version be out?" the answer is always, "WIR".
I remember someone getting quite huffy when it was explained to them what the letters WIR stood for. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
And they wouldn't get upset if it was released before it was ready? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Ummm guys... If you want junk software with a buggy version out every 9 months, buy MS, Adobe or Corel. If you want something that lasts a long time and works. Have a little patience.
there is only one saying I have ever heard that explains what it is like to write a program under a time limit...
"It is hard to remember your orignal objective was to drain the swamp when you are up to your ass in alligators!"
Everytime you turn around another thing is trying to bite your bottom. Fix this which breaks that then go back and fix both. Opps that guy went on holiday.
WIR...
Hey!
APS still dominates hands down! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Oh yeah, they DO have those "..01" updates. I don't use Corel much to know that one.
Actually, I'm wondering about this XPE if it comes close to APS and would like to know if it exports .psd files.
Hi RJSwift,
If you have xara X1 it is included. At least as much as is ready. This program is still in work. The plans for it are rather grand for a little application.
Any new info regarding release date for latest version of XPE?
Hello Kingram,
Welcome to Talkgraphics. They must be pretty busy because the whole crew have been pretty scarse in the forums lately. Or they all went on a nice long holiday... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Erm... not soon. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Later, as doane said.
It will probably be with X2 now... and no, I won't be drawn into guesstimating when that'll be out. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>It will probably be with X2 now... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
And will that enhanced XPE still be a free upgrade for X1 users?
Hey Brian,
That was the original plan...
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>That was the original plan... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Does the use of the word 'original' imply that there might be an amended plan?
Hi Brian,
No... It means that was the word from the boss himself when xara x was just coming out about 6 months ago. If it is feasibly possble, xara will release it. I do not think it will be download open to the general public, but it will be offered to all registered users. IMHO.
Maybe Charles or another member of the crew will speak up on this, if not, they are busy.
Over seven (7) months since the topic was started.Quote:

Time for a 'bump'.
Bump Nothing...
Maybe a kickstart, or a jumpstart... Could we get a general status report at least? Is it dead, sick, or just buried? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Wow, I didn't know it had been this long.
7 Months has already gone by!!
Whoa!!
It went on vacation, then went off to picture editor school to learn some new things.Quote:

It's not dead. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
if there is one thing I have learned is I do not like the double click on the bitmap to call xpe. 9 times out of 10 when i try to drag a bitmap Xpe open, and I have to shut it down. When I want it, usually on a bitmap filled shape, I have to remember to go open it.
Basically, it opens when I don't need it and doesn't when I do want it. Nice idea, but not too practical for the way I use it.
Is it thinking of demonstrating its newly-acquired talents any time soon? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gifQuote:

Ummm, Maybe with the arrival of X2?
That would be nice!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
With all this talk of X2 I hope I have not purchased X1 at the wrong time when I could have waited for X2!
I really hate it when I buy only to find the new version a couple of months later. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Cheers
Mike R
Mike we are just wet dreaming. X2 is in the works, but no hints other than that have been leaked. Matter of fact, we knew that X2 was in the works at the release of X1. This is just a minor release, but worth the upgrade cost. About every 4/5 months we start asking again but get no confirmations/denials... So... we wait.
Well, it's now been eight (8) months since this topic started and still no sign of the improved XPE.Quote:

And all the time, I'm looking at the new version of Picasa and I'm thinking, "Hmmm... nice thumbnails. Superb printing. Nice basic photo retouching. In fact, even the advanced retouching is pretty good. The cropping and rotating are excellent. Multiple undo levels. Original picture reversion. The one thing that it doesn't have is complete integration with Xara. Hmmm..."
And, as I continue to get familiar with Picasa, I have to ask myself how much that integration really matters to me.

It's not dead." - AntonyF
Hi Brianlj,
I think you got your answer already from AntonyF. It is not dead, they are just still fiddling with it some more. Remember, good things come to those who wait.
I would rather have to wait a little longer for an excellent product, than to get a P.O.S. (Piece Of $hit) released every 90 days like Microsux. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Great link, brianlj. I've been waiting for XPE too, for my own use and a 50-user company too. I'll give Picasa a go tomorrow, it looks like it could save us / cost Xara a lot of money - looks like it does all + more what we need.
Just need a patch or registry setting to stop Xara opening XPE on a doubleclick and the XPE development could be "complete" http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
It went on vacation? What?? What for? Had it worked hard for a full year and so deserved some time off? No. It had arrived showing some promise and then done nothing else for a year. And it gets to go on vacation? Yeah, right.Quote:

New things for XPE, or new things for any photo editor?Quote:

I think users have been quite effective at letting Xara Ltd know exactly what XPE lacked. 'New things' is not exactly what we want: we want standard features done well and achieved simply.
I'm certainly no MS apologist, but I can't, offhand, think of any of their software that they've released every 90 days. Nothing even close.Quote:

And, 'a little longer'? Alas, your definition of little is somewhat different to mine. To me, 'little' doesn't mean the best part of a year.

Hmmm... I guess you do not do the automatic updates from Microsux then.... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
GIGO... Garbage In Garbage Out http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
That's not a valid comparison with the situation we're talking about here with XPE.Quote:

Microsoft do not release feature-updated versions of their programs every 90 days. Yes, they regularly releases updates to correct newly-uncovered flaws in their products. As they should.
For instance, if it were discovered that XPE trashed BMPs which were exactly square, I would expect Xara Ltd to issue a fix within a matter of a very few weeks. As they should.
This is nothing to do with long-promised feature enhancements in an updated program.
Okay... I will agree with that. But I have not seen a version Microsux orfice worth upgrading too since 97, and that was not worth upgrading to if you had 95.
From what I have seen, the majority of businesses have felt the same way. Sales of Orfice have declined steadily for the last 5 years. Business only upgrade when they have to. Now microsux has stooped low enough to throw a 90 day student version of orfice in with new computers. So you will either have to build the machine yourself, or buy the latest orfice within 90 days. Unlike xara where you can have several versions of the same program on the same machine. Microsux, has made it that if you upgrade any part of orfice you can not load an older version on that machine...
Microsux has the morals and ethics of a pimp.
Looks like we've come to an impass.
Yea I guess so. I would rather wait and have a good product, others would prefer instant graticfication no matter how worthless the garbage is.
Oh well... to each his own.
