seven shape challenge
Using no more than seven shapes, draw a graphic depicting anything you want. You are limited to the following tools, fill tool (flat fill only) and the shape editor or pen tool.
Mine is called La Costa Dorada - The Gold Coast (would make a nice banner)?
Saludos,
Bob.

Egg is disqualified as he used the Animation tool which wasn't listed as a permitted tool.
Out you go Egg :p
(Pretty smart though Eric)

Re: seven shape challenge

Re: seven shape challenge
ah yes - the outlined sun shapes tricked me.. :o
Hmm - here's 7 shapes without outlines..
-
Re: seven shape challenge
you like guitars - I've noticed :D
on reflection, now I am awake and 'coffee'd', I see the sea is not blue but sort of green...
whilst it is perfectly possible to draw the sail as one shape - it could also be made, perhaps more easily, from two joined shapes - would that be ok here Bob, or are we strictly limited to 7 shapes throughout the process?
-
Re: seven shape challenge
I was wondering if those outlined shapes would trick anyone into thinking there was too many shapes. Stevej - The sea is actually medium cyan

Re: seven shape challenge
Some very imaginative work here already. In answer to your question Steve, I'd have to say that however you interpret the instructions, if you have used six shapes, and then need to use 2 shapes in order to create the seventh, then you have by definition used eight shapes. I might as well rename the thread as the 14 shape challenge to accommodate this, which then of course would lead to the use of 28 shapes to make the 14, and where would it all end, I ask myself. ;) Also to reinforce this point, having these 2 shapes and then using the Subtract Shapes Tool, then you are also using more tools than are allowed. As it is possible to have the icon for subtracting shapes on a toolbar, as I have, then I cannot see that it is anything other than a tool, albeit hidden in the Arrange menu. As has been demonstrated here, seven shapes are plenty to make great stuff. :)
You must take this as being written with tongue very much in cheek. After all, rules are meant to be broken, aren't they. If Gordon Brown can break his own monetary rules, then I suppose we can too! :D
Saludos,
Bob.

Ok I had to stay up a good deal of the night waiting for things to [mostly not] happen....
I would not choose to do the wavy line work this way you understand I would use a brush or pen and scan and bitmap trace, but Bob would not allow that here... :D

Very nice coast :) Keeping things simple is sometimes really the best thing to do.

I haven't visited this thread for a while, John I like the cat, but why should you be curling yourself up in a ball? :D
Ingenious method, Steve.
Suvek, I think yours would make a lovely cameo.
I've been attempting to make the shapes into a realistic looking beach ball, but I have to confess to cheating. Can anyone think of a way to do this whilst conforming to the rules of the challenge?
Saludos,
Bob.

Like this? Kind of?
*Make 1st shape
*Clone, change colour and drag left-side, centre handle to right
*Repeat
*Group, clone, flip and shuffle two halves together.
*Squash shape verticaly if needs be

Re: seven shape challenge
I'm pretty much up to speed with your method now, John, and I'm basically after a method of creating a realistic shadow within the rules of the challenge, or some other way of giving the shape a spheroid appearance.

Bob.

Not very good I know, but using fill tool ...

Re: seven shape challenge
Bill, that's a very good attempt, I like the highlight a lot.
Paul, why didn't I think of that? Simple but effective and a shape to spare.
That is a realistic looking beach ball, John, it must be said. but if I look closely, I'm sure I can detect the use of a non-flat fill.;)
Saludos,
Bob.
