Re: 3d photo
when you say 3D what exactly do you mean? - as in a spinning logo, or as in a 3D model?
-
Re: 3d photo
hi thx u for replying to me sorry yes it spins but has it spins the photo comes apart and back together again ive been searching all week on google to see if i need a diff sortware but cant find it anyway.
-
Re: 3d photo
ok - that might be possible with a combination of xara xtreme and xara 3D, so I will leave your question in this forum for now - thanks
really it depends on how three dimensional you want the parts to be - xara does not do true 3D, it is extrusion..

Re: 3d photo
hi ive been trying on xara 3d and xara xtreme and i cant work it out but im new to it all only had it 2 weeks.and did u see the attached thumbnail ?

Re: 3d photo
I think you will need to create a single shape in whatever version of Xtreme you are using expot the image to somewhere you cand find it. Copy your image and paste it into X3D, this should give you a black shape, then texture it with the image you exported. Please make available your images and files you have for this so one of us can help you further.

Re: 3d photo
Yes, I think so. just provide me with your image, and I'll work on it and provide you with stuff you can use to create the main image in X3D. Of course I won't do it for you but I'll lead you down the right path to get the job done. I am thinking like handrawn that it might be possible with a combination of xara xtreme and xara 3D, I'll just have to see.
OK I just had a go at it. Is this what you are looking for?
Attachment 87502
You will have to put in your own background and type. And this is only a very small version. I am not posting my files but as you can see it is certainly doable. Do you need a tutorial?
EDIT: I just looked at your example again and there are two animations going on there, X3D cannot do two different animations at the same time. It may be possible to do that with Xtreme but it would be very laborious.

hi and thx u for ur reply and i do need a tutorial. and i can only get 1 object it move in xara and that is when i use xara xtreme and ive seen some xara 3d designs with 2 or 3 objects  well here is my image and thx u Attachment 87504

Re: 3d photo
If you want parts of the photo to rotate independently, then the process requires separate objects which will be used to incorporate the various photo elements, which are arranged using the line spacing and character spacing settings. Then each object can be rotated separately.
But this is not very intuitive, in fact it is not intuitive at all.
That said, I am moving this topic to the Xara 3D Forum where they might have a better idea how to accomplish this.

Re: 3d photo
moot point Gary - if you take the xara route you are going to need both programs for sure I would have thought [but not for me to argue with a GrandDude Emeritus [1st class] :D ]

Re: 3d photo
Hi emma
this is not an easy thing to do for a beginner I am sure
Gary thinks it would be best done [mostly] in xara 3D and I am not at all sure that it would be
but since he has moved it to the xara3D forum we will need to wait and see if one of the experts picks it up..... I would not know how to do it in that program

Re: 3d photo
Emma - Nothing is easy at first and if it is, it's probably too easy. ;)
Xara 3D Maker was created mainly for creating simple rotating 3D animations. But over the years, members have come up with very creative ways to push the envelope. These solutions as I mentioned are not easy and not intuitive, but if you keep checking back, one of the Xara 3D Maker gurus should have some suggestions.

Re: 3d photo
I have had to be gone all afternoon emma. I will work on a tutorial for you. If you send me the image you want I will do most of the work and send you an X3D file. Can you add your own background? The text I won't do because I don't know what font you want, nor do I really know what color you desire the text. The animation I will leave up to you. Is that suitable?. For the small one I did, I had to take apart your animation and could get the shape and image that way but that really wasn't suitable at all because the text overlapped the image some. Actually I don't know how to do what you are looking for in X3D alone. I used XDP7 to cut out the image and give me the shape and image. So with that said, hang on a little longer because it's getting late here, and I probably won't do it any more tonight.

Re: 3d photo
Can I say that this needn't be all that complicated? It can be done entirely within Xara3d if you don't try to get too fancy.
Start with a blank Xara3d screen, set Wingdings as the font. Cursor is off.
Type n, n, <Return>, n, n giving four squares in a two by two arrangement.
Adjust the extrusion as desired. My preference is for pretty thin, and minimal round bevel.
With the cursor off, adjust the tracking till the squares touch horizontally.
Adjust the line size until the squares touch vertically.
On my machine this worked with Tracking =-153, and Line size at 52%.
You should appear to have one large seamless square.
In the Texture dialogue, tick the Texture box, and load your photo.
Use the options in the dialogue to adjust the size and position as desired.
In the animation Dialogue, set Rotate2 as the animation type, with 24 frames, 8 frames per second.
Use the Cursor to select individual squares and vary the axis and direction of the spin as desired.
Job essentially done.
If you want to add text, activate the cursor, set a readable font and type the text at the top of the photo or the bottom, and then
select the whole text and shrink it to suitable size. With the text still selected, choose the animation (still Rotate2!) axis and direction.
Or even have the text static if you want.
You can have individual letters or words with different axis/direction, but the file can only use a single animation type.
Export the animation as an animated gif.
Give this a go (only took me five minutes) and see if this fits your needs.

Re: 3d photo
Hi, Emma, that's a good start, just some tweaking needed.
I don't think you've used the cursor to select different objects.
If you click on the a|b button, a big girder should appear at the bottom right of your screen in Xara3d. That's the cursor. Think of the screen as a page of text. Xara3d was originally only a text application, and it still lays out the 3d objects on that basis. Holding shift while moving the cursor across an object highlights it. Whatever options you choose from the dialogues affects only that highlighted object. If nothing is highlighted, any option you apply will apply to everything in the file. Some things, like Animation type are always global, ie, affect everything.
Hold the shift key down and tap the left arrow key. The "a" of Emma should be highlighted.
Continue holding down the shift key and keep tapping the left arrow until you have selected all the text.
Now go to the Animation dialogue, and click on the axis buttons to choose a different spin axis. There are three of those, with a Reverse direction button at the end.
If you use the cursor to highlight individual squares, you can choose different spin axes for these, too, and can click on the reverse button (the one at the end with two arrow heads) to have one spin in the opposite direction.
While the text is still selected, go to the Texture dialogue, and untick the texture button. You can then go to the Colour dialogue and choose a colour for the text.
As to the photo, there are options in the Texture dialogue you can use to resize and move the photo on the squares. Use the cursor to select the four squares together for this.
Be aware that Xara3d will tile textures so if the texture is too small to fill the object you are painting it on, you will see multiple copies of the texture appearing.
If all the above doesn't help, try posting your .x3d file, and we can have a look at it.
But you are nearly there already.

Re: 3d photo
I think you need to click on the Options menu at the top of the screen, and select one of the items, like Animate...
When you select the text, does the text change colour? If it doesn't, it isn't being selected.

Re: 3d photo
hi yes it goes like a grey colour so then i go to animation picker and select 1 but it still changing it all

Re: 3d photo
When you say:
i go in to the A/B and high light the text and go to the animation and select 1 but it changes all of it but i only want to change the text.
what are you selecting in the animation dialogue? The animation type is global, so it will affect everything in the file.
If you have Rotate2 for the squares showing the photo, then the text will have to be Rotate2 as well.
But you can change the parameters within Rotate2, so you can stop the text participating in the animation (untick the text box), or have the text Rotate in a different axis, or in reverse direction, even on a letter by letter basis if you want.
But it will still be the Rotate2 animation if you want to keep that for the squares.

Re: 3d photo
Hi emma
well done :)
- the image you have just posted is too big for GIF on this forum, and therefore when you click on the thumbnail it is converted to a JPG and does not animate - try reducing the size, more like the one you posted before...

hi mike on the sample u shown me what shape did u use ? ive tried looking in Aa but cant find it.emma

Re: 3d photo
I'm not sure what you mean. The only shapes I used on the sample were the squares in Wingdings, which is the shape you get by typing "n" in that font.
