HELP!! I could not start Ulead PhotoImpact 10.

Hmm. don't know really... sorry
However this said I will suggest that after you see the splash pic, it usually takes some seconds yet to finish loading... in fact one of the slowest apps to load that I have ever encountered... on the other hand it is also one of the most used apps on this guys machine as well, so I put up with the slow load http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
The only time I have had that happen is where I told PI where to look for all my plugins and I have a lot of them. If it is the first time that they are being recognized it may take an eon. The next time booting in should go faster. The more sophisticated programs get the more RAM they like to have, and right now RAM is cheap, may not stay that way. Put more in if you can afford it.
Under Preferences, under System, you can allocate other available scratch disks if you have them. Try not multitasking if PI is a problem for you. I know if I am building a web I like to keep a lot of programs running.
I tried, but does not work yet. who could help, please.
How about uninstalling, cleaning the registry then reinstalling again? Might be a bad install.
I uninstall, clean registry, ooh, doesn't work. Please help me.
You did not mention if you're using a full version or an upgrade version of PI. If it was the latter, I would suppose you'll need to have an earlier version of PI installed first.
And one thing more. When installing, make sure you don't have any other applications running in the background. Maybe you'd have to turn off anti-virus softwares temporarily, too...
I'm no software expert, but these are the things I would try.
Maxlin, I can't think of a more terrifying episode....I would positively freak if that happened to me. Apart from restarting, have you tried reinstalling? unless of course, you can get element 5 team to renew the link for you.
I have just a few minutes ago, installed PI 8, PI 10, Cool 360 & Photoexp for the 5th time, on this new computer called Shiba, and believe it or not, even after the store saved those programmes on disk for me, the Easy Pal still doesn't work! I have found ways around certain functions, but the programme was working well in the old computer, and I can't understand why it won't work with Shiba.
I do hope the problem you're having will right itself asa . . .

Another thing to check is the printer. This tip I remember from the PhotoImpact Bulletin board. Try to make sure that your default printer is available, then start PI.
Maxlin, if you haven't already tried Regseeker, don't. It's too dangerous. I tried it and accidentally deleted things that shouldn't be deleted. Luckily I made backups. I deleted the part in the previous post, just in case someone else decided to mess around with Windows' very delicate registry. Sorry, bum tip...
Hi guy! Just checking to see if you managed to right things with your computer and PI. I feel for you....let us know how you make out.

I'm completely confused. Guys, who could help!
Questions:
1.Have you ever used PI before and is this an upgrade, or is it the first time you've installed it in your PC? Are you installing it from the CD or internet download?
2.During the installation process, does everything go smoothly?
3.How about rebooting the PC after installation?
4.Is your pc part of a network that requires administrative privileges?
5.Do you have any other softwares running during installation?
1.Have you ever used PI before and is this an upgrade, or is it the first time you've installed it in your PC? Are you installing it from the CD or internet download?
[it's the first time installed, installing from internet download]
2.During the installation process, does everything go smoothly?
[yes, go smoothly and I used it for days and also go smoothly]
3.How about rebooting the PC after installation?
[the same problem exists]
4.Is your pc part of a network that requires administrative privileges?
[no]
5.Do you have any other softwares running during installation?
[antivirus and firewall, I think they are OK]
Some people do not have their computer date set right and if it wasn't set right at the time, PI may be thinking your trial has expired, in which case you need to put in your serial code number if you have bought it.
It doesn't get rid of the memory that it has been on your computer, it just means you can't completely remove it being there in which case it thinks you have installed it before.
A person who specializes in cleaning your computer system would be the one I think who could really help you. My son's a computer guru and is about certified in everything under the sun, so I don't have to worry. Also some things like firewall and anti-virus may still be to blame, you can check your settings as to what it will allow you to do.
I insltalled Photoimpact XL 8.5, uninstalled, then Photoexpress 5. All the same problems.
Be sure that your Anti-virus program is disabled before you install your new programs. Otherwise it may corrupt your installations. -AF
I closed anti virus. it can't be solved. installation is always OK. only problem when use it.
It may be a long shot, but here's something you could try. I got this idea from an answer to a question in the Xara forum. Maybe no file type is associated with PI.

Specifically, Daniel's reply.
Could be a Windows SP2 issue.
but it's for SP2, my windows xp is SP1.
Check out the file type associations, anyway. Specifically .ufo file, which is PI's native file format. Another thing to try: see if you have any old ufo files you saved earlier. Double click the file and see it PI could be launched that way...

I checked these ways. but the same problem. PI still could not be launched.
Sorry, but I think I'm out of ideas here...
You said it was from an internet download. I forgot to ask if it was a trial version or full version. If you paid for it, you should ask for proper support from the official site. But that is always a pain sometimes, I know...
