anybody know of a simple widget for testimonials?
I basically want a resizeable photo widget that i can add 10-25 testimonials from customers.
i want it to scroll vertical.
i dont want the Numbers Boxes or Radio Buttons on the widget.
thank you in advanced!
Frank
i tried the widget in xara but all have Numbers Boxes or Radio Buttons on the widget.
Re: anybody know of a simple widget for testimonials?
Try doing a Google search and see if you can come up with a script for this.
And Acorn may have a solution for this. He usually does.

Re: anybody know of a simple widget for testimonials?
You could try the Slidiron Accordian Slider.
See attached example.
One disadvantage is it will only take 6 slides.
Re: anybody know of a simple widget for testimonials?
I would put them all on one page like I did mine or display each testimonial beside the project and explain what services or how you helped the client.

Frank, to achieve total control what I would do is create a separate sub-site of Testimonials using a Vertical Supersite that are page-sized matched to something like Photo Text Panel 4 (NEW).
What you then do in the main site is to create a Placeholder widget "Embed a website" and change the source to the local sub-site index.htm., sizing it to the width of the Testimonials.
Each Testimonal entry is vertically resizeable without any problem. Horizontally would require changes to both the Testimonials entries and the main site Placeholder.
Depending on the height of the Placeholder, you will have a vertical scroll bar. It is totally steam-driven so the end user elects to scroll into the Testimonials.

Does XDPro 10 have Photo Text Panel 4 (NEW) Acorn?

In hindsight, probably no.
But any photo panel would work, e.g., bold_panel01.

acorn,
thank you for your quick replies!
i am finding this really had to believe, such a simple task is so hard to achieve. lol!!!
i like your idea but im looking for something really simple.
i just tried creating animation in designerpro11 and had zero luck after 5hrs. thats crazy.
i did exactly what xara did on youtube and can not get it to work.
i tried text only....
just 2 testimonials
i want...
"Test 1" to display for 5 seconds than shut off
"Test 2" to display for 5 seconds than shut off
loop back to...
"Test 1" to display for 5 seconds than shut off
then i tried creating the text into a bitmap and i still could not get it to work.
i also tried it in 2 previous versions of pro. 9 & 10 just to check.

EP,
Flash isn't an option these days. Gif's are fine, but remember they are image files so SE's can't read the text.
I don't know what the problem is you're having with the animations. It's easily do'able. Would you like me to create a video tutorial?
EDIT: Click to view the gif and wait it has a 5 second delay.

EGG,
thank you for your quick reply!
that's exactly what i want to do.
very simple! that way if i have new testimonials i can add them very quickly.
yes i did get it to work in gif. just not in flash. but you saif flash is no good anyway.
i dont really care about seo as this site is a company site.
do you know of a photo widget without the numbers or radio buttons?(see pic below)
that has a little more control of the transitions?
i have been using "Cycle 5" in pro11
but it has the numbers in top left

thank you again.
Re: anybody know of a simple widget for testimonials?
Yes, Acorn made one that used CSS to hide the next/previous and radio buttons.
It's called something like CSS3 - Cycle 6 - Hide Paging-andprev-next.
Perhaps he can supply you with a link and if he can't find it I have a copy. I don't like posting other peoples hard work.

Frank, I was confused by your original Post as you asked for vertical and didn't mention slideshow.
I think the one you need is CSS3 - Cycle 6 Slider.web.
The widgets are on the Pasteboard and you need to unlock that and delete the no CaptionBar widget.

Re: anybody know of a simple widget for testimonials?
This is a simple version that needs work but is fully functional: Attachment 113438.
In use, put all text testimonials into a <DIV></DIV> in the Placeholder body. To go fancy, you need to understand HTML.
Don't touch the Placeholder head unless you know what you are doing.
Keep the Placholder Name of UsesJQuery.
It is not yet Xara friendly.
It is a straight lift from https://css-tricks.com/snippets/jque...ing-slideshow/.

I still need to break the absolute positioning of each testimonial so I can put them all cleanly on one layer.
Again, it is fully functional,
