I have coral paint shop pro Xl, and about 5 days ago it started closing every time I would try and open a file from my computer :( It doesn’t close if I copy a picture from the internet for example....

isn't there anyone who can help...:(
Have you tried opening up another window from your hard drive, then ctrl/dragging and dropping the image into the program's page?Quote:

Yeah I've tried opening another program and dragging the picture into my paint shop program, and that worked but as soon as I tried to save the picture it closed down....I've tried to reinstall the program as well as checking for viruses, but it didn’t help!Quote:

My favourite trick with PSP (I use X2, but it works with X1 also) is to close PSP, then re-open and hold the Shift key down until you get a message box that tells you the program will revert to the default settings, then let go of the Shift key :-)
Better save your current workspace first though.
Right-click in the workspace and select wprkspace>Save, give it a name and OK.
Then reset PSP as described above.

I think the idea is:
hold the shift-key and then click to start the program with it held, and keep it held until the box apperars [not start the program first]
This is how it works in Corel Painter..
Don't forget to save your workspace first...

Thanks both of you, but it didn't work.
When it opened after it had reset, it still wouldn't open or save a file....
So I reinstalled the psp program and a box came up, which said:
Could not initialize installation.
C:\Users\Simone\AppData\Local\Temp\pswi_preloaded. exe The specified file was not found
Could this have something to do with it not working??
A quick Google search for : pswi_preloaded. exe
might confuse you even more :-)

I didn’t find a lot that could help. I know that without it some programs might not work properly on the computer, but it doesn’t say how to find it again or download a new one…
