Hi all,
Is there anyway to "save as" an existing slideshow and make some changes or do I have to rebuild it from scratch?
I just want to show a client an idea.....

I am fairly sure you can name and save a Xara slide show.
I have never found a way.
Another reason I avoid Xara-hosted efforts, where possible.
I suggest this is a Dear Xara request.

LGF, I decided to build one just for you. look two hours of playing...

Simple? I think so. The file has two examples on two pages.
To set it up:
- Add a host of images to the Photos layer.
- Give each useful filename="imageDescription" Names. remember what you name each as. Omit the file extension; Xara will add .jpg.
- Hide the Photos layer.
- In the MouseOff layer, select the HTML Placeholder and edit into its code (body).
- Alter the bits in red to match your photo name and caption:
Code:<img src="index_htm_files/img_snowtops.jpg" style="width:100%"> <div class="w3-display-bottomleft w3-large w3-container w3-padding-16 w3-black">
French Alps
</div>
- Save and test everything.
- Check https://www.w3schools.com/w3css/default.asp for changes to W3.CSS Effects and look at the Slideshow section.
- Experiment and upload examples to TalkGraphics.
The bottom right black box ensures the Photos are published even when their layer is closed. Don't delete it.

OK. Here is what made me think it does save Xara Slideshows.
However, when I insert one of these created long ago, I just get the basic black screen and no images. I might have moved the original file as well but in that case it should say can't find that slideshow.
I will move this to Dear Xara.
Dear Xara should have a sub category for features that need to be revisited.
IMHO this is but one more example of something added to the program and then totally forgotten. Features like the Slide Show creator need to be revisited and updated. I would be much more interested in something like that then some wow feature that is more a novelty.Quote:
Gary, your Slideshows ought to be still there. The concern is you cannot create a new one based on one prepped up before.
