I like both pics. Francis, both are lovely pictures :)

If I were you, Stygg, I'd consider this "assignment" well done, and finished.
It's perfect.
And that looks like an actual butterfly, doesn't it?
:)
@Frances— Meticulous work, lass! Well done!

I could'nt stop until I finished the assignment :D but now pleased with persevering and the help from you to achieve it. Will now definitely look at the bowling pin primitive and work out how it's done, says he! :D Off for some lunch while my secretary takes the shade down here in Rio! (dream on Stygg):D

I hope you own the photo, Stygg.
It's a really good use of the fake shadow, but let's post images we own or are in public domain, cool?
Here's a sloppily retouched photo (I can't find the time to perfectly blend a nice background into the photo); it has strong hues, you might want to use it and some of the techniques I've demonstrated this month.

My Best,

Can't remember where I got that photo from but if your not happy about it Gary then please do remove.
Stygg.
I found this image in the folder I had that sunbathing image in.
It has nothing to do with whether I'm happy with the photo or not, Stygg. I have to report to a higher authority at tg, and perhaps not all of us are aware that tg has a policy not to post copyright material without the express permission of the creator. Similarly, people who run other websites are not allowed —by company policy and also the unwritten rule of the web—to take material you, I, and other tg members, and post it on their website.
It's a funny, clever image, Stygg, and I personally like it. So don't get me wring: I'm not admonishing you, but rather alerting you, okay?
"Fair use" is when you post something of public interest, like a screen cap of Windows 8. And that's how people re-post certain images. But it's not Fair Use when you take, for example, a Google image of Celine Dion, retouched or not, and post it on a high-traffic commercial website. email and stuff, that's personal and no one's business except two people.
But I'm lecturing and really don't mean to on a balmy morning in Central New York after a walk! :)
'nough said on the topic of copyrights, I think. There are plenty of threads about it already on tg.
I let the image stand, Stygg, my call, Administrator.
My Best,
Gare
Thanks Gary, it's been years since anyone has called me lass :) (my grandmother used to use that term) The magic eraser was a great help on the butterfly photo and a handy tip: when you use Xara's clone tools either magic erase or the manual clone as demonstrated in the tic tac toe tutorial, you get a photo group that actually contains many clipped photos and if you do a lot of cloning these can get quite complicated. You can right click on the photo group and in the menu choose flatten photo and Xara will merge all the clipped photos to one photo. this can allow you to go in and make further edits in the same area.
Aw, you beat me to the tip I had planned for next month about flattening a photo!
Good tip nevertheless, eh?

It certainly is a good tip, sorry I scooped it on you!
