I must say if all these new tools are implemented for Inkscape, -and they can improve the speed, it will be a phenomenal program. Still, I'm struggling a bit with it, not just the unfamiliar interface, but the lack of speed, relatively speaking, slows down the learning process.
The fantastic speed of Xtreme is its best feature, along with the 'Keep it simple' approach, this make Xtreme very easy to play with. At one time I had the naive hope that the 'linux' version of Xtreme was going to be incorporated with Inkscape, but that was a pipedream LOL!
Paint Bucket? Sheesh now you guys want to make xara into MS paint... Phffft... to this idea in my opinion. Vector programs work with shapes... Ask for a tool that will join lines into shapes, but not a paint bucket... Yuck Pooey!
john - it fills with a vector shape - thats the whole point ;)
I don't see the use myself... Sounds like a MSpaint clone... sounds like a real fluff tool. Better to put in a margarita maker... It would get more use.
Sure John - but I repeat it is a vector fill therefore it has absolutely no connection with MSpaint whatsoever.
If I scan in a pen/pencil drawing - I can now produce the vector shapes to color it without bitmap tracing or hand tracing - I can apply all the usual vector transparencies and gradients blends bevels etc to these shapes because they are vector fills.
I can give them outlines I can - well do anything with them in xara I could do with any other shape...
For me at least this is quicker less tedious and progress and I am sure it would have use in pure vector drawing too. :)
It's a great productivity tool when working with line based artwork.

I am outvoted... I will shut up...
Still a waste of developers time in my opinion.:)
Actually as it works so well in inkscape, it is not high on my wish list anymore for xara, unlike layer overhaul and brushes overhaul which are at the top.
But then I don't believe in 'one program/program_suite to do everything' - is that not the very philosophy of Messers MIcrosoft and Adobe? ;)
I'm sure that new customers will look into such features. They find such tools in Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape. Xara Xtreme lacks such a feature. They find also tons of other interesting new vector functions in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape.
If a software company isn't up-to-date with the competition, the financial situation isn't getting better. This Paint Bucket tool is so easy to implement...
