Thanks, I'll take a look at it.
:'( I just added a favicon to my web site. I got the info from Egg's tutorial at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8a2P...eature=channel .
I've been doing handstands trying to get it to work only to read in this thread that IE8 may be a problem. I switched from IE8 to FF and the favicon works:O
Does anyone have a solution to make it work with IE8?
Here is the line of code in my <head>
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="favicon.png"/>
Thank you, Peter
In IE browsers the site must first be added to favourites before it shows the favicon.

Hans I do not believe that is accurate information.
Perhaps you could qualify that comment a little more?
Steve,
It isn't a strict rule but it just seems to happens that way,
though it shows on and off but if it's a fav it works better.
Hans
In IE6 and older the site must be added to the Favorites list before the favicon would be shown. IE7 and newer (IE8) there is no need to add the site to your favorite list. This was also stated in Post #40 of this thread.
There is sometimes an issue if a site is using a png rather than an ico file for the favorite icon.
Peter what is the address for your site? I would like to see if I can get the favicon to display when using IE8.
My site is www.mainlands.org
I did add it to my favorites in IE8.
Thanks for helping. Peter
No, in IE8 I just get the IE logo, not your "M" icon.
