Re: September 2013 Tips and Tricks: Drawing a 3D Invitation Card
Yes Stygg this last version fits much better. My impression which noticed that if the color world has been changed to gold-yellow-white, then that would deserve some re-coloring of the grey envelope :D But it is just as Rik says, nothing to correct just maybe consider.
Also was thinking what A Wrigley mentioned whether the card fits in size to the envelope in the original. But my impression is that yes it would fit

Rik, great tutorial. Thanks so much. I started with a different composition for which I made a reference photo but followed most of your steps after that.
The situation has multiple light sources, windows in the back and several interior lights, so your directions for shadows and gradients were very useful. I learned a lot.

How can you take something and improve upon it?
Don't ask me. Ask Boy.
Don't believe me?
Then check out the evidence for yourself, in Post #42.

Thanks, Gare and Rik, for the great feedback. I had fun doing it and if I improved on the original it was because it was so well done that it gave me room to play around with some variations.

Looks like your tut. Rik got changed into a shadow and re-colour envelope exercise as well as doing the card, so a good tut. for learning techniques all round. :D

You picked up on the backlighting shadow very quickly, stygg, congratulations.
Think about it some more, though. I feel the shadow on the lip of the envelop is not consistent with the foreshadow from the car. Perhaps skewed a little more to the left?
I don't know. I'm only an art critic today. :)
My Best,
Gare
