Are these errors Xara related or hardware related?
Thousands of people use Xtreme without problems.
Without having your machine physically here for me to examine it is very difficult to determine what may be causing your problems.
It could be hardware or it could be conflicts with some other software you have installed. It could be problems other software could have caused during installation.
Too many variables to consider without a complete analysis of your system.
Hi Soquili
I do appreciate your taking the time to help me diagnose what's going on. Another theory is that I might be running too many apps at the same time and unfortunately Xara is the one app that Windows decides to target and shut down.
I have received a few Memory Dump and Physical Memory errors obver the past several weeks. I'm beginning to suspect, this might be a major factor.
What do you think?
Hi SK,
If you're getting these memory errors it might not be a bad idea to test with other memory or remove one and see what happens.....worst case, memory is cheap so you could probably replace it easily enough. That could easily be your problems as could some other things but your logs are as you say showing problems.
Memory dumps are a sign something is wrong, could be memory, glitch in Windows, things like that.
Hey Guys,
Is it true that MS XP is unstable if there are more than 3 gbs of ram? I have 4 and I wondering if this is too much?
4GB isn't too much if the mainboard can handle it. XP 32bit just can't use it all.
But SK, certainly from all that you have written in this thread, it is clear to me that your PC hardware needs checking, particularly the HDD and RAM.
If you know what you're doing you can check your own hardware for error using the UBCD available here.
There is some technical knowledge required.
what printers do you have attached/ installed?
This may not be an issue but my surveying software just won't accept a RICOH printer and so I have the default printer set to BlueBeam PDF.
Otherwise it opens a file then crashes unexpectantly. I also get file violation errors and memory issues.
All these go away when I changed printer defaults.
I expect you may well have different printers - work & home.
This is a work PC. The default printer a Konica Minolta C353. I've never heard of a printer causing problems - but I've seen stranger things.
I'm running XARA with nothing open (no IE, Outlook, etc) and I'm going to see if the computer running out of virtual memory - which I have also received multiple errors.
Hi All,
Well... I got a new PC this morning and I'm running Windows 7. Unfortunately, Xara crashed once again - another Access Violation Error - I was working with the Mould Tool when the crash happened. However, with the introduction of Windows 7 that opens a whole new can of worms.
BUT... I noticed something strange. Right before Xara crashes the PC begins to slow down. Sometimes Explorer will stop working and Outlook freezes all together. As I stated, it seems like Xara is the one application Windows decides to shut down.
I beginning to think that there is a network issue / anomoly.
