Re: Mud map
Unless someone dug a pit the shape of Australia (and Tasmania) and filled it with water, the "puddle" would not lie flat on the uneven surface of the track.
It definitely slopes down from right to left as we look at it, and it looks like the track's direction is on a slope too. It just doesn't hold water (;)).

Bob.

Re: Mud map
I don't think any logic will fool anyone here into changing their minds/positions...
One way or the other... as if it is faked its very good.
But upon reflection i can only go by my gut feeling...
When i look at this the white "halo" around the puddle (that small band where the mud is saturated around the edges of the puddle) seem extremely exaggerated (Bright)...which makes it look a bit unbelievable...to my eye...
And i would think the reason for this is that the day is overcast and does not seem bright enough to produce such a pronounced "halo" (this is how i would explain the exaggerated look of this bright halo....
And if you squint your eyes slightly this will help you to see what i mean...
i.e the whole puddle POPS.
Unfortunately I will not be swayed on this as my eyes tell me the answer that perhaps my dry logic is incapable of discerning with any reasonable degree of certainty...
But if others are sold on it i wouldn't think less of them and for that matter i wouldn't wager anything substantial on it either way.
