You keep improving, is there a limit to this, you keep topping yourself. Alright, feeling intimidated now. I'll have to go back to the drawing board myself.
(That's my funny way of paying you a compliment.)

Lovely wheel Sally I will never "tyre" of seeing your art.
Sally, excellent drawing of a tire (tyre?). :)
Now that you guys/gals are zooming into one particular aspect of a car, I expect to see more detail - like, where is the valve stem to fill the tire with air?
I think all that help has seeped into the brain, By George he's got it
Nice wheel barrow... fairly chunky ole tyre for an old barrow though? :p
Norm - most excellent! You have mastered drawing spokes!
The thing with with wheels is, quite simply, time and patience - that's if you want 100% accuracy and photo-realism.
In the time it takes to draw one such wheel you could lace up and true a set of real ones.
What I have been seeking is believable illustration and this began in response to Norman's request on how to quickly draw spokes.
To this end here is a tip received from Sally:
"When using the star (quickshape) to obtain the spokes illusion, crop it using a circle to remove points and give a butt-ended appearance."
This gives more believable spokes and in addition, a small circular highlight at the end of each spoke will give the illusion of a nipple.
Illustrators are illusionists ...
And finally here are all the hints, tips and suggestion put together.
This is not an end result, more of a new starting point, for there is much room for improvement and variations are limited only by imagination.
Remember, the example here is unlikely, generally, one might suppose, to be viewed at this size; rather, it would be part of a complete illustration of a car so alleged inaccuracies would go unnoticed.
The quickie image top right demonstrates this to a certain extent and also shows that perspective can easily be applied.
This thread demonstrates how a simple question can generate a variety of ideas which will enable a novice to achieve reasonable results in a short time while at the same time, showing how what is seemingly a complicated task can be simplified into a few basic steps in Xara Xtreme.
