I'm not sure as to HOW to do that but it sounds cool

Assignment LOGO #3
Attachment 117901
This is a logo for a communications company which is a lot like SKYPE (spelling?). This company is called PING and this company wants a logotype but it CAN have an icon too. Any color is fine but they do NOT want the color "blue". So, I pulled out my trusty pen and sketchbook and brainstormed some ideas. My favorite being this one, however, I did a better job at designing it on the computer than I did drawing it in my sketchbook. My ideas included: "people who use Ping are in the "in crowd". And I wanted some kind of icon that showed a "ping" in the image.
Impressions? I like this image. It was the most fun to make so far. The font took a while to spot. And I must admit that the font chose me because I would never have guessed using this font. The conceptual part was easiest but the execution of it took a little longer than I had anticipated. Cons? I'm not sure if I like the word "in" in red or not, maybe another color? Just not blue.
So, what's your impression? Did I do good or not? Surprisingly, this image feels right at home with this particular company and I can imagine the owners putting this logo EVERYWHERE.

Mark, sorry this is so rough but i was suggesting:

I imagined the slogan for PING being, "Thank goodness talk is cheap." But the company would have to have unusually low rates for that to work. And given that this is a fictional company, I decided to leave out the slogan on the mockup.

Did it anyway. LOL!

I don't like the letters running together in the logo so I separated them.

I like what you have done with the Ping logo well done!
Thank you, Frances. Out of all the assignments I have tackled so far in this course, this one took the longest but was so fun it felt like it was the easiest. But I'll tell you a little secret. I don't know much about Skype so I know nothing about PING. If I were doing a real logo for a real client, I would most certainly do my homework and research these companies. However, given that I only have a day to do this fictional company's logo, I didn't take the time to at least research what Skype is all about, which probably comes across in my mockup ad. So, I used my instincts to help me arrive at a design. But I DO know better.;)
Your best so far, Mark. Fun text!
Bob.
