Did that, on both layers. Changed the show "me" to Do Nothing. The problem still exists... :(
I couldn't get it to change either. Seemed to work when I was previewing but exporting it and uploading it to a website showed the problem still existed.
It seems to be something in the javascript causing it but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, getting sidetracked with my darn work...
The problem is in the base object. It has on-click pop-up set to MouseOver layer. You can't use MouseOver layer as a PopUp layer.
Thank you, John. That took care of the link problem. Now I cannot seem to get the popup photo of me to work again. I have switched to mouseover tab and applied popup layer - mouseover, and it will not work (at least in preview).
No! You are doing it wrong again! :D
The MouseOver layer works automatically. You shouldn't link anything to it.
But, if you want any object to have a rollover effect, this object has to be a link. So, if you did this effect using MouseOver layer, all you have to do is to add some sort of link to your base object. You had a link to the MouseOver layer applied before so it worked, but the link was wrong. Now, if you don't want this object to jump anywhere simply add a void link. To do so, enter following into the "Link to web address" field in the Link tab:
javascript:;
Also, this pop-up may be better implemented as a popup layer instead of object on the mouseover layer.
Thank you, thank you, thank YOU, JOHN! The void link works great! I couldn't figure out why the buttons were doing mouseovers but not the pic of me, but now it all makes sense. The buttons had links.
Thanks again! :)
Hi all,
just launched our new website at http://pardooz.com.
Done by my wife in Web Designer, of course. Any feedback is welcome, and so are your orders...
Does the "of course" refer to the fact that your wif did the design ... or that Xara Web Designer was used to create it? :DQuote:

Hey everyone,
There are some AWESOME sites being done with XWD!
http://www.eggsrequired.com
This site is not a 100% XWD site, it initally started out from Xtreme4 but due to a series of problems, the original site was no where near what it should have been.
After a remake in XWD, the front page has taken shape to what it should have looked like - now onto the rest of the site
Check it out, feedback more than welcome.
Please note: I am not advertising our business, just showing off my wifes site, it just happens to be an ecommerce site.

Pretty nice and clean. Some specifics:
Fresh and colorful, perhaps here and there a bit too colorful (e.g., not too happy with the pink buttons on the Xara3D product page).
The text on the "Upgrade" button is not centered and I miss a mouse-over effect on most of "those nice & shiny" buttons and drop-down menus.
Really like the pop-up on the Upgrades page when you click "What's included".
As I understand your payment schemes, Pardooz doesn't accept credit cards. So, the banner with "We accept Visa etc." would be misleading.
When I opened your website, I did so in a reduced-size window, so at first I couldn't find the buy buttons at the bottom. Perhaps you could put them to the side of the product description. I also think your website is a bit wide for quite a few monitors, forcing people to scroll.
I didn't understand why the Canadian flag picture was linked to Xara's download page on the XWD page. By the way, if you're a reseller for North America, wouldn't you also want to include the price in US dollars?
Under "Products" you list also products that you don't sell directly. This is confusing. Moreover, these links take the visitors off of your website.
Sorry for the long list, but I'm having a hard time "doing what needs doing". ;)
Hello, it is a pleasure too see all your wunderful websites create with this fantastic program.
I want redesign my old site. Here is already a WIP of my new website . Im not finish yet , but I creating this in short time.
WD is so right for me quick and easy to used and make very fun :D
BIG Thanks to the xara makers !!! :)

Hi Vidi -- Interesting site! I never saw anything like that before. :)
I live in a town called Mermaid so I found it especially intersting to see the Mermaid designs.
Hi Danny -- When I first launched the site I was seeing in the central area multiple text layers displaying at the same time. It seemed to just be a problem during loading because after it fully loaded it appeared to work as intended. I rather like the marketing approach - in this case the "I couldn't find it locally so I started importing it" does seem sincere. So often small internet businesses try (foolishly IMHO) to market themselves as big corporations. I much prefer the 'feel' when I come across something that reads as sincere and honest. I like your site. It seems Xara-WD offers lots of potential to make it even better and have fun doing it.
Regards, Ross
Not so much a website, but a single page. There will be more. Now approved by my client - fits in with the opening of the clients main website.

I and others have mentioned that XWD uses a HTML subset to do it's magic and as such is limited in some ways compared with other web software. While that is true, this page shows a layout with text flowing around images (pretty basic) that would take much longer in most other programs (particularly DW CS3), which would probably mean I wouldn't have layed out the page with irregular graphics. Thank you Xara - perfect for this little job.
Just a heads up really. If you are curious and go beyond the page, the rest of the site is authored in Flash (not Xtreme flash).
Paul
I had a comment about your website, VIDI (http://www.mjmedia.de/dancingmama/). Your nav buttons in the rollover state cannot be read (at least not by my eyes). You may want to consider picking colors that provide greater contrast between text and button.
Here is my updated site done through Xtrem Pro 4 and Xara Web designer

P.s It is not completed as yet still a work in progress..
One thing Scotty, before you go too far - that primary blue background just kills my eyes, makes me run away - and fast.
Please use a gentler colour :)
Oh Sorry 'bout that...like I said just a work in progress..I will change it soon...trying to get the hang of complimentary colors scheme..that I like..
Jim
No worries Jim, it was a friendly hint ;)
Have a look at Adobes Kuler system. Quite neat.
That is very slick. Thanks for the reference. I'm just now watching Adobe's video introduction to Kuler (pronounced "cooler"). It's about seven minutes in length.
Good intro video, except I think she needs to visit a fruit shop and learn about grapes.
Another similar one is COLOURlovers.com Colourlovers will let you download a palette as an image via right click menu. You can copy and past the image into both Web Designer and Xtreme and use the eyedropper from the colour editor to create named colours from your palette image. You can also create single colours and seamless patterns.
Hi guys.
I see a lot of folks are spending a lot of time with Xara's newest creation. It's hard not to, considering how easy it makes this whole procedure. Well done folks. Keep 'em comin'. :)
I may as well add my small compartment on the interwebs.
This was created entirely in XWD. Nothing was done in XX4. (In case anyone was wondering)

Mark...
PS: thanks very much angelize for that great link to Colourlovers.com. That's an excellent resource site. And the adobe resource site is also very sweet. Thanks guys. :)
Nice work Mark. You might consider optimising the background to the website - 350K for a background gradient is pretty big. Maybe you can get good quality from a jpg with a smaller filesize?
Impressed with the work you've done though.
Paul
@cursor !!!! Thank your for your hint http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/icons/icon14.gif
You have absolutly right I will get this change :)
Happy weekend @all ! vidi
Thanks Pauland.
Yeah, i DID optimize that image actually. It WAS 435kb before i used the "PNG Out" plugin in IrfanView. And unfortunately, saving as a Jpg creates a banding effect with that particular combination of fore/background colours for the grad. Using a radial gradient is the problem.
I decided to just bite it on the bg image after all, because i felt the look it created was needed for the design.
BUT... i do have new FF plug-in for a site that will try to optimize your site's graphics for you (Smush.it), then let you download from them their final resulting image(s). I'll try giving that a go and see if i can shave anymore size off.
:::EDIT:::
OOO! Hey i just thought of another way to create that bg effect! I can use a solid coloured blue 'base' background, and place a transparent Png white 'glow' spot over it in XWD; on a new layer. XWD will save out each as separate files. And THAT, will solve the size issue. Sweeeet!
Thanks for inspiring me to rethink this issue Pauland!
Mark...
I received your comments from the Heritage website. I don't think it's appropriate to provide information of a competitor here, so I will reply to your email and explain the features fully.

Some very nice work by all - and something to work towards for the rest of us. - jb
@Pauland...
Just wanted you to know... i finally buckled and did the bg graphic in Photoshop. The exact same image that exported as 350+kb 24bit png from XWD, exported as >70kb from Photoshop as a 24bit png.
WOW... that's a ridiculous difference in size.
So once again, thanks for inspiring me to rethink that bg graphic.
And i must make a slight clarification from my first post. Not ALL graphics were done in XWD... obviously, the 3D icon images were not. I wasn't referring to those anyway, but thought i should clarify. I only meant the main Website/graphics and the glassy link buttons and such.
OH... and in case anyone was curious... the MP3 players i'm using are from "Coffeecup Web Jukebox". And were extremely difficult to implement into the page using XWD. I finally just inserted them into the page code manually.
Mark...
Hi Mark, could you elaborate on the problems you had?
I was curious and just downloaded the 30 day trial version of CC JukeBox 4.5
I had no problems at all. Even plays fine with the WD Previewer.
The only drawback is that you will need to upload the myjukebox_files files and myjukebox_files folder manually.
It would be handier if WD could upload everything in the root folder rather than just the index.htm and it's resources folder, this option could be made available during the publish session I would think.
Online Example
My suggestion would be to group everything graphical together (on a graphics layer) so it exports as a single jpg at about 65 kb, then use 99.5% transparent objects the over the button regions etc. on a MouseOff layer to trigger mouseover/popup layers which reveal the other graphics (which would need to be PNG to be transparent). That would be the most efficient method and you could probably slash the load time by 10 times. It seems the new skill in making the most efficient graphical websites in WD is clever and inventive grouping.
In fact, just playing around, it's possible to reduce the load time by a further factor of 7 by ensuring the entire website exports as optimally grouped JPEGs instead of PNGs. It turned out there's no need to use PNGs at all--even for the envelope and pad images--just force them to export as JPEGs (I chose 75% here which is perhaps too low for some images). (Note: The .web file only has jpg components in it instead of the original vector objects, but this doesn't make a difference to the exported result and was done to keep the web file as small as possible.)
Here's a little one-page site I put together to brand a youtube clip I made for a client in Bermuda. The video features a detailed SketchUp model I made to help potential purchasers visualize the design. (I didn't design the project -- just worked on the visualizations). Unfortunately the movie lost lots of quality on youtube vs. my original on my hard drive. The quality issues led me to shrink the size of the embedded clip to make it crisper.

Really nice work Ross.
