I've dug up a sample from a couple of weeks ago when my computer started acting strangely. I think the microphone was stuck on just before my system crashed. It's the only sound byte I can find right now. Oh well,..

draw with Xara but I don't know how to make a .mp3 --- any chance someone can advise. What software/hardware is needed? Any tips?
My voice has always been somewhat of an embarassment to me. I regularly fumble over words - brain works faster than I can get out the words. I have noticed an interesting thing about my speach: When under stress I speak much better. Chances are I will speak better in an important meeting or when forced into public speaking. I've had times when I've had to speak to groups of a couple of hundred people and I've done just fine. On the otherhand, my casual conversation can become somewhat disjointed. I'm telling you this in case anyone has some input that might help me. I know we have a wide diversity of participants here. Any speach pathologists among us?
Regards, Ross

Ross:
MusicMatch is the freeware program I used to convert the .wav file to a small .mp3 file. It is to audio files as IrfanView is to image file (more or less) but with Internet radio stations etc. and ads. Go here http://www.musicmatch.com/home/ for the Free “Basic” version. The fancy version is about $40 US.
In the “what do you sound like” thread the as recorded .wav file I made was almost 300Kb but was able to reduce it to just 34Kb. Like converting image files to .jpg you get to pick how compressed you want the file to be vs the quality of sound in this case.

Turned out nice and clear. Wanted to be silly but that was just not possible for some reason. Nervous I guess.
File is larger than I wanted but it says it all.
