Okay, this is the Extrude tool doing most of the damage to the World of Art, and then I traced off the sides to recolor them.
I don't believe there's a source of light in the composition. :)

Now, as what would this type of art be classified?
This is one reason why I rarely critique a piece and stick to only compliments about some aspect of someone else's work.
I like challenges, I like pulling others' drawings apart such as Derek's onion and a couple of Ron's cars they gifted the community in the past. But I wouldn't touch the melon for anything lest I felt that too would be an issue.
I love and respect your art and talent, Gary.
I'll stick to compliments.
Thank you for the Mindfulness, Mike, but I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't want people to take it apart and see how it ticks.
Dig in, anyone and everyone. Watermelons keep you from dehydrating.
Oh, what a thought: Dehydrated Gary Bouton. My wife could mail me in a # 10 to Europe as long as someone on the other side of the pond had some Perrier waiting.

My question wasn't a criticism, it was an honest inquiry. Just in case it was misunderstood. Remember, I don't know anything technical in art.
Ron, it's sort of a 2.5D cartoon. If you un-extrude the stuff, they're just primitve drawings, cartoons. What (I think) I did was elevate a cartoon by extruding it to another "type" of Art, not exactly sure what it is, but it's silly-looking so perhaps it's still a cartoon even after "filtering" the graphical idea, eh?
My Best,
Gary
Thanks Gary. I need to give more thought in how I word my questions. I've noticed in the forum, in general, comments are sometimes misunderstood. Hence, I'll try to be more careful.
Just trying to grow, learn and understand.
Let me explain something before my Show and Tell: "Fair Use" is the use of copyright work for purposes political and educational. For example, you can use a photo of our President because he is a public figure and subject to Fair Use even when such photo is copyright.
So I'm showing what I retouched in this example, and because my purpose is educational (and silly) it's okay to show a photo of a Tootsie Roll. This photo was used in a User Guide and as a commercial piece, the brand name is unacceptable to use as Fair Use; we were making a profit and if push came to shove, I'd have written to the Tootsie Roll company and asked for written permission, as I've done in the past with Fender, Gibson, and the Rickenbacker companies.

I think I 99% nailed it and it was printed at about ˝ this screen size. Retouching in Photoshop was out of the question with all the text elements I needed to replace; Xara fit the bill flawlessly, IMO.

Ron, you're the type of guy that I wouldn't be upset with if you burned my house down, okay?
Don't do it, but I'm exaggerating to try to convey to you that you are the least offensive person on TalkGraphics, and possibly the world.
We need to address the most offensive person on tg, don't we?

Gary,
Thanks for the Mencken quote. I had also been thinking about it, meaning to look it up, and thanks to you realized that I had it wrong. I thought that the word was "intelligence." My bad! I guess that should put me in the offensive category.
I was just looking at the photos that we took at the Picasso Museum during our trip to Paris earlier this year. To please Ron and significantly improve the watermelon fish, you should add another eye, maybe oblong turned upright. Ron is a great fan of Picasso, I believe. And my wife says that I don't understand art.
