Since you offered, his favorite is a 64' Studebaker hawk, burgundy with a sun-roof. He has a picture of one from a catalog if that would help. Thanks...

What brilliant images! This whole set should be on the Xara main site to help sell the programme!
This is of course not as wonderful as what other people are doing but that was a call for things we really do all the time, so ...
http://inserein.com/images/is-book-200.jpg
http://starfields.org/images/ps-book250.gif
This next one was fun because we had people who were there but didn't want this known and thus were cut out, and others who weren't but wanted to be, including the photographer himself and someone who had to leave early for a plane.

That's the wonderful thing about XaraX ... you don't have to be a professional graphic designer to use it and create marvelous things.

John,
Yes, if you could send the picture, that would be great. I started on a '57 Golden Hawk, but I'd rather do the '64. (charge? what charge? I do it for the pure enjoyment, John, really)

George Follmer's '66 Can-Am Lola, a useful blending exercise- the front fenders are the most pronounced example of the compound curves of a Can Am car of that period.
Good idea for a post!

Nice work, the Studebaker Hawk. I really like the sculpting around the grille, and the "overcast" lighting.

Kane,
See what you did here is what I'm trying to learn, how to finish those fine details so nicely. I just haven't figured it out yet. For example, the little highlight on the front door jam, and the streak of reflective light going across the door. Looks real...

Hi Ron,
Thanks emensely. I grovel at your feet. It is great, wonderous, stupendous! Hey, It is the least I can say considering you did not charge me an arm and a leg for this. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
The real test tho... comes from my father in law... a prior owner of a 64 Studebaker hawk who also an engineer. If this passes muster with him... Then consider yourself blessed by the pope. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I do not know how many times he has sent me back to the drawing board because something was 1 pixel off or 1 shade different from what he expected. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Ron & Kane,
You guys should get together and create a CD with all your xara car drawings on it... Create a website... or sell it at car shows, etc... You could make a pretty penny...
OR...
Contact Xara and see if they would be willing to trade all your xara car files for lifetime updates to xara... And they could give it away on the xara CD... with "Clip Art" like this, the graphics community will have to sit up and notice.

Interesting work posted so far...
Here is a screen grab of the pro bono job I'm currently working on. It's a mural for a local primary school. I had a specific area of wall that needed covering... a very long wall. This gave me a lot of lay out problems until I hit on the idea of doing a comic strip type of layout.
This is definetely an "in progress" picture. Several of the colored figures (mainly the secondary figures) will be modified and the final frame is only roughly sketched out (so roughly that you might not be able to see what's going on, though it's enough for me to work from) The color strip below is just the color swatches for the paint that will be needed.
The mural will start going up in about a weeks time, taking who knows how long to finish. I seem to consistently get myself in trouble by taking on these sorts of projects and then making them 10x more complicated than required and this one is no exception. ah well, live and (eventually) learn.

I call it "Space Being". So far I like it so that's an incentive! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
