With a name like that I would have expected the home page to have a big picture of two young lovers sat at a table with rum glasses, a bottle of rum looking out at a sunset over a beautiful sea surrounded by palm trees. Or even some wise grey owls sat at that table enjoying their drink.
Would have been my take too, but unfortunately that's not what the client wanted.
@forresthowie. I like that, a lot of nice work. If you perhaps need help with your mobile variant let me know. I’ve made every mistake in the book. It’s a matter of picking and choosing what you want in the variant. Sometimes we just can’t include everything. ;)
[QUOTE=actionit;623279]My site and some others that I've done. Not a designer but Xara makes it simple to create your own site without templates like in Wordpress:
http://www.norselec.com.au/
Actionit,
These sites look great! Could you tell me if the animated logo list on the Norselec site was done directly in Xara, and if so, how? My boss wanted a running logo list like this and I couldn't figure out how to make that work using Xara.
Thank you!
-Kelly
Kelly, the marquee would be built as a Placeholder and each logo and link added to a simple collection as as HTML. Not a native Xara solution: https://www.w3schools.in/html-tutorial/marquee-tag/.
Acorn
Acorn,
I've only used the marquee HTML code with text. Good to know this works with graphics too, and have in my arsenal if the boss wants this feature in the next design iteration of our website.
I appreciate your reply!
-Kelly
That works fine for me too Acorn.
Egg,
Brilliant! Thank you for the example. That will be even more helpful in the future. Added to my resources folder. :)
Regards,
-Kelly
Cheers Kelly but it was Acorn pointing me in the right direction so I did a bit more Googling and it was fairly simple.
On the lighter side: What did they use to create this one?

I'll get my coat...
Well
this is our site for Russian market... not bad at all i think... and with some efforts is fully SEO optimized and PageSpeed ranking is about 80-85... for both versions mobile and dekstop....

Actually i started working with xara 2015... and learned a lot meanwhile... nice program...
Two fingers down the back of the throught at a guess!Quote:
EDIT: Look at the page source, it gets worse.
http://www.armariosikono.es does not appear to be made with a Xara generator.
Acorn
I did: <meta name="generator" content="ARMARIOS IKONO®"> & not a single ClassName starting "xr_".
I am happy that https://www.jardinerialojardin.com has <meta name="Generator" content="Xara HTML filter v.9.4.0.17"/>
Acorn
on the two pages I see the same:
<meta name = "Generator" content = "Xara HTML filter v.9.4.0.17" />
<meta name = "XAR Files" content = "index_htm_files / xr_files.txt" />
I was worried about your comment, but I see the same thing on the 2 pages and I don't understand what could have happened to you
I promise they are made with xara ...
Thank you anyway.
I don't know either but this is the source the link goes to for me: Attachment 127210
Acorn
I'm sorry Acorn but I also get meta name="Generator" content="Xara HTML filter v.9.4.0.17
Thank you for confirming.
This is baffling. I don't magic code out of thin air so who is playing mind games here?
This is the site I am viewing:

Acorn
Acorn, you're not crazy. I had the same source code on that site.
Attachment 127212
Inspect shows it is built using Xara, but I don't have an explanation why your search suggests otherwise.
It's not a search but a Ctrl+U command (or, right-click + 'View Page Source'). In Chrome, by the way.
It might be a difference in IP4 and IPv6 addressing.
I am getting served from a 1&1 Internet AG (united-internet.org) IPv6 address of:2001:8d8:100f:f000::28d, Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Perhaps there is a different IP4 address in play?
Acorn
I am not as savvy as you Acorn so would not begin to understand IP4 or IPv6 addressing, but when I right click in chrome and click source code I get that it was created in XARA no understanding of why you might get otherwise but definitely created with XARA.Attachment 127215
This is quite strange. If I view the site I get the following:
However Joe & Gary appear to be getting:Quote:
"Generator" content=ARMARIOS IKONO®
Quote:
"Generator" content="Xara HTML filter v.9.4.0.17
Thought using a different browser might change things so tried Firefox, Edge and IE same all three I get generated with XARA
I got an IPv6 return when using MS Windows command tracert <domain>.
Others might not be configured for IPv6 and are getting an IP4 return instead.
Only the OP can advise what was published where.

Just advised: https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...sulasia-Global.
Worth a look.

I am happy to share the work done for the Parsonage Restaurant. The business has come through Lockdown with flying colours having taken the decision to create and deliver a brand derivative called 'Parsonage Delivered'. It moves on to the 'New Norm'.... and with a new fan base too.
https://theparsonage.co.uk/index.htm
My thanks to those here on TG that helped some of the website ideas come to fruition, and helped the business survive the last few months!! With the exception of a little HTML/CSS it is 100% Xara - even the video content was created using Xara (thanks to the supersite slider).
Gary
I have used Xara to create websites for over a decade. I like it because:
-It allows for fast development (add X-Builder and you can have a nice-looking design in very short order)
-It allows the ability to have multiple sizes (adaptive, not responsive) with full control of the layout for each
-It allows me to build affordable sites for my market; small local business
It does have drawbacks. It does not play nice with embedded PHP scripts like ecwid ecommerce. Most of my new development is with another tool. But I frequently proto-type my new sites with Xara and then do the development in another tool. If it is a simple site the proto-type becomes the website and I save time.
Building responsive sites has its challenges. You have to think differently than using Xara to achieve the design your customer request or you have imagined in your head. Sometimes it is just easier to do it with Xara.
I have looked at some of the other tools you referenced and chose not to move that direction. Funny how often I see a Wordpress site that still contains unfinished template pages with Ipsum Lorum and placeholder images.
I think the forum has provided a reasonable collection of very nice looking website built with Xara.
so, maybe you are wrong
Really like your original and clean approach. One problem? - my QHD laptop is 3200x1800px yet I can't see the bottom of any of the pages?
Attachment 127287
LGF, just reduce the width of your browser and shrink its scaling.
gary has designed for a browser at 100% & 1280px wide with an effective scaling factor of Fit to Width of a maximum of 121%.
I estimate the page height is then 1550px.
Also try pressing F11 // Esc to see if the website fits.
Acorn
Site still doesn't fit using f11. Something's up - I have to reduce the width of my browser by about 50% before I can see the bottom of the page...attached is a full screen capture.
Attachment 127295
Nothing's up, that all fine; few use 3200px wide viewports.
Xara still thinks 960px wide is good enough for a website.
I do believe that there is a height issue in Xara's use of Scale to Fit Width coding, forcing you, especially, to have to use the vertical scrollbar to go lower down the page.
Anyone else?
Acorn
Both browsers set to 100% zoom. 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Not sure what we're trying to prove here.
Attachment 127296Attachment 127297
Just that when Gary's site has a wide viewing window, it scales and so it's height forces the need to scroll.
As expected but trying to answer the original question.
