Maya,
Your idea looks like a perfect revival tool for the whole forum. I would also like to chip in.
Thanks,

I am impressed with the embers/coals look.

Nikolai, that is spectacular how you got the burning feathers looking like they are disintegrating and disappearing in motion as the bird flies!!! Fantastic effect and beautifully done image!!! I just thought about the Phoenix and, correct me if I'm wrong, in Russia don't they have a "Firebird" story also? I think I may have seen it portrayed on some decorative pieces made there and heard there is a story with it unique to Russia. I know there is a classical music piece called "The Firebird" also, and perhaps it was inspired by the story?
Very nice work, and glad you shared this piece with us!!!

P.S. The idea to go forward with the forum-wide postings belongs to David King, I just jumped in and promoted it as I really loved the idea too.
More like a barbie flare up.

Brian.
Great Images You-all. Gidgit, I think yours is special.

Now, that wouldn't have been the first impression---but now you've gone and done it! And you've got it "very well-done" too by the looks of things with that poor phoenix there . Looks great, seriously now, it's a striking image! I really like it a lot!
Mike--just goes to show how so many original images can spring from a simple subject---I really like how the firey sunset and projection into the sky of the phoenix shape come together in yours. It creates an atmosphere of time and coincidence with the rising and setting of the sun. Great and original work as usual, Mike!!!
Thanks Brian and Mike for contributing in the spirit which David and I hoped for!

RAMWolff
Thanx Mike...
all the entries are simply stunning...it is nice to see a "cross app challenge" allowing the worx to shine...
may the "spirit" of creativity flourish on...
So many great versions .... I've always liked variations on a theme as it's neat to see how different things can be but still the same theme. Great bunch of variations

Another great one Richard!!! Glad you couldn't resist and had to let the phoenix appear again---love everything about it!!! FANTASTIC!!!

Thanks everyone! This was a great challenge and I hope to see more of them in the future!!
Carolyn
Very nice Carolyn, and I agree, this was a very fun challenge, and me thinx that this is just the start of what promises to be a fun ride...Thanx to Maya and Dave for bringing this about, what's next...anyone?
It must be high time to start a "new subject" on the Phoenix Challenge, since it already takes too long to download the original one. nikolai

There seems to be some sort of difficulty with the forum loading your recent image as it appears to have clipped off the bottom half section of your gorgeous phoenix---perhaps you could delete it through the edit and try to repost it again, hopefully it will go through next time. This has happened to others now and then, I have no idea what causes it.
From the first half of the phoenix I would have to say it is another masterpiece from you and your expertise with Painter---it's fabulous!!!! The interesting patterned objects, star-like in the upper left and right corners are cool too. It is amazing how you got your firey effect to even look "liquid"---I love it and hope you'll be able to get the full image posted!
Thanks for sharing this with us!!!

Hi Maya!
It's been the wrong day for me. I have tried to upload three times. It's one of those things every now and then here in the South Russia.
Thank you for your warmest comments. You always have a good word for everybody. I do hope the moderator will find time to take the trash away, i.e. the first two images.
Here's my effort #3 (Painter 7)in hope it'll work out.
nikolai
Thank goodness the reposting worked!!! I love the entire work and now can see the rest of the wonderful crystal and star-like motifs around the phoenix. They are very interesting even by themselves!!! You certainly have created a great fire effect on this phoenix as well---I love all of your phoenix designs, it's very hard to pick just one!!!
Excellent work!

Wow!!! You've got a cool effect with the fire and the light rays breaking through the sphere shape---great and interesting colors/shapes entwining with the sphere background. Uniquely modeled metallic wings and phoenix too!!! Did your remark, "Phoenix Unger", reference "Felix Unger"?--that's just what came to mind when I read that ! Or perhaps you meant phoenix "anger"...which could be, it has a serious expression about world events maybe???
Very Cool !!!

It's beautiful, looks like stained glass with the rays of the sun shooting through the less opaque areas.
Stunning piece!!!

Thanks, Maya, for your comments and thoughts.
Yes, I love puns and Felix Unger was just too close to Phoenix for me.
Watch for more..

Very interesting style, Nicolai, like a kaleidescope over a glass bird...

Very nice indeed, I really like the depth the colors take on in this grafx.
A really fantastic image, I particularly like the "iconography" . I agree with RamWolff that it has a stained glass effect.
I've also deleted the 2 images you were having problems with.

Deeply grateful to those who have reacted to my version. Egg, special thanks for removing the two bad ones.

Great image. I can't begin to imagine all the techniques to create it, Nikolai, but you've done a great job. The phoenix has risen here - and elsewhere. Neil
... phoenix images everyone!
Great challenge Maya and David; and great response from everyone too!
Sorry haven't been around much recently, have had a major deadline to meet so been rushed off my feet.
Yes it is interesting to see all the different variations on a theme, and all the different techniques, ideas, colours and textures etc. Splendid stuff.
Regards
Su
Hey hey, nice colors and cool effects there Kelly, looking forward...
Yuppers, I agree, this was a very fun challenge indeed
... gorgeous image Nikolai!
Yes I agree with RAMWolff as well, it makes me think of stained glass windows, what with the rays of light. Great colours too.
Beautiful work!

Su
Too late for another entry? This was done in Painter 6........Joey

Another good poster quality image! Makes me think of a futuristic phoenix.....rising from a kryogenically induced sleep to face a whole new world.
Love it!

The sandcastles of our lives are nothing when compared to the tides of our destinies.
It's never too late to join in on this thread!
The fantastic images and creativity are always well worth waiting for---this one, I agree with Joelle, brings to mind very futuristic impressions! First thing I thought of was that humanity would conquer biological challenges and emerge anew...very hopeful!!!! Thank you for giving us this great image and the ideas it inspires!!! Great work !!!
