Nice photos, but, I could have done without the spider! =D>

Thanks Larry. Unfortunately I have many spider photos.
Here's one that was hanging out under my porch light waiting for dinner.

It's probably obvious from my posts that I hold a penchant for dragonflies.
I believe this is my favorite dragonfly photograph.
Attachment 106662
I've taken many pictures of cicadas and this is one of my favorites.
Attachment 106719
I like this one too. The glistening alien-like look appeals to me.

Whoops.
i'm glad i found this part of the forum as these pics are fantastic!! a lot of my pics are macro too. (i've included a snap of my son's bearded dragon) and while mine are not as incredibly detailed as the ones posted here since they're taken with a 8MP phone camera, a lot of people are amazed at how good they are. hopefully they never see yours to compare against :D:D:D
as a side note...i just picked up an actual camera....a 1955 Rolleiflex 28D camera in perfect condition that i'm gonna try out in a couple of months when the weather is nicer. hopefully something turns out good enough to post up here
thx for sharing your pics Mark. hope to see more of them :)
Mike, It's nice to meet someone else who appreciates macro. The shot of your sons bearded dragon is very nice.
Here's at shot of a cecropia moth fresh out of its cocoon and drying its wings.
I noticed the cocoon in the fall waited all winter and then checked it every day
the next spring waiting for it to emerge.

I like this photo of a bee because it looks like a little alien on a wooden landscape.
Attachment 109900
Actually, the background wasn't removed. It was taken in my bathtub as stated in the post.
Here's an unusual insect. Snapped this shot of an Argus beetle larva. Guess what it carries around on it's back?

A small hairy brown spider I photographed on my salmon colored living room wall.
It was priceless, my granddaughter called me into the living room and loudly announced: "Grandpa, there's a spider on the wall!".
I retrieved my camera and proceeded to take pictures of it.
"I should have know better than to call you," she indignantly yelled. LOL

Nice photo Mark, but, I am on your granddaughters side. :D
Larry, I think most people are on your and my granddaughter's side. How about something a little less threatening?
This is a top and side view of an Azalea Moth that was on my screen door last night.
Attachment 112509
Thank you Mar4k, that iis indeed "less threatening". Have you ever seen a dead moth laying on the floor, and the light catching the eyes just right and they glow? That is kind of spooky.
I have seen that phenomenon, Larry, and it is rather spooky. Here is one that is quite alive and rather pretty. I've been taking a lot of moth photos lately, this one is a Tiger Moth.
That is rather pretty Mark. thanks.
You're welcome Larry.

nice work
greetings
Thanks Germaine, and greetings to you.
They are fairly common around here and we live in an isolated area. Here's a picture of a plant roach gauging the distance.

great photos
wish i had the patience
i get hummingbird hawk moths on my buddleia all the time but damned if they'll stay still long enough for me to shoot them
Thanks Big Frank.
Even with patience I lose a lot of shots to insects that won't hold still. It can be very disappointing, especially when it's a species I haven't photographed yet.
But for me it's all worth it when I get a decent shot. With macro it doesn't take much movement to blow a shot.
Things you'll never see with your naked eye. 1/16 of an inch long creatures of the night made large for your viewing pleasure. Micro mayfly. The first in a series of micro insects I will post.
Attachment 113937
Thanks Mark. This could prove interesting. Would Gnats be among them (even though they are not necessarily creatures of the night as far as I know.)
Mark, you might find this interesting, There is some very nice macro photography discussed.

Gnats are definitely a possibility Larry, but this time it's a 1/16 of an inch long micro moth.
Mike, thanks for the link.
Attachment 113953
Interesting, I didn't know there was such a moth.
There are many such moths, Larry. This is but one.
inspirational work, mark
thanks for sharing
Thank you so much , Frank. I don't draw with Xara in the warm months because I'm too busy taking wildlife photos. (Wish I had time to do both) I do however finalize and process my photos in Xara, so it's something I like to do and something that involves Xara that I can share with the folks here.
This one is not a 1/16 inch long creature; though it is not a whole lot larger, but I like to post other insects too. Not my best photo of a leaf hopper but one of my favorites.

Here's a 1/16 of an inch long insect. This one is a micro dance fly.
Two images of a small black one. At rest.
