Good idea Xhris, thanks.
Gerry - You knocked up a winner. I always love your holiday photos.
I'm going to take a holiday one of these years.
Here's my first website (a re-design for a client). A few bits to be done and content to be added...but pretty much done:

XWD is a great tool to work with. I'm still learning but it just keeps getting better.
CHEERS! :)
Selbi,
Two Big Thumbs up!
Thanks, I knew it must be easy. I had tried this but I was thinking the grey workarea around the page would change. As I had put a full colour rectangle over my page to get a background for the website itself, I could not see any change. Of course, now if I move my coloured background aside, the page is a colour and when previewed it extends across the whole browser screen.
Thanks for the help.
Lindsay
Lindsay - If you add a colored rectangle to your page, then only the colored rectangle will appear on the screen surrounded by whatever your page background color is (white by default).
But if you Ctrl drag and drop a color onto the screen, then the entire browser screen will be that color. You can also select a tiling image from the Bitmap Gallery and press Background and that pattern will fill the browser.
See this thread for an example. http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=36974
selbi, your site looks nice. One thing I noticed, however, is that your shadow i only on the main body rectangle and looks a little strange ending (and extending) at the footer. Don't know if you meant it to shodow the rect or a group of that + the header and footer.
Nice job.
So many great sites!
I'm working on a small site that will show 14 three minutes workout clips. I have uploaded these to utube and using their code to embed them into this website.
I tried to put each clip on layers and use place holders. For some reason I could not get that to work right since closing one vid before playing another became a bit confusing.
So I went with one vid per page. I would appreciate some input on the functionality and user friendliness of this set-up. Also any input on design and layout is appreciated.
I have only activated the first 3 videos. (The about page is not activated)
Link to site
Thanks in advance
Tom
There is a strange behavior. When I click on any of the three available videos, everything seems to work just fine. If, however, I touch any available button, the audio stops (but the video continues). Ideas?
Working fine here, FF3 and Chrome.
IE8 here.
For debugging purposes, let's focus on the top-middle option (hips & thighs). That's directly above "click on any image to play". After the video starts, and you hear some audio, move your cursor to the 'Home' button. As soon as I touch the 'Home' button, the audio stops, yet the video continues. I got identical results 6 times in a row.
I'm getting the same loss of audio as Curtis.
The audio stops when using IE7 but does not using FireFox (I forget which version, I don't update it or use it often).
I've done something similar in Dreamweaver without getting this issue. Seems like it is WD and IE issue.
Tom
Click off the page first (in the white area) then hovering over any button doesn't disable the audio.
John (Covoxer) might need to look at this, I'll make sure he's notified.
Thanks
Whoa! What in the world would make you consider that behavior? ... but it works! Clicking off-page, then moving the cursor (I like that word ... :)) over the 'Home' button does not interrupt the audio.
Well here its my humble first proposal...
I had it made in dream weaver but like it much better in XWD
www.metrostarlandscaping.com
to be the first site it took me about 10 hours and its 90%... ready to be rolled out by Saturday...
all comments welcommed...
I still want the links on the portfolio page to show up on a small pop-up window but I haven't got what I need...
19.png on the portfolio page (the main picture) would be 10 times smaller and thus 10 times faster to download if forced to export as a JPG instead (by naming it "JPEG"). (Also some of the testimonials seem to contain personal client information (such as their phone numbers).
Helllo all. Here is a preview of the home page I made in XWD.
What a kick butt piece of web design software. Not only was I able to construct this entire page without using a graphics editor, I just checked the markup validation and not one single error. The last WYSIWIG editor I used had over 100 errors on a similar sized page.
I can't say enough about the Xara products. All are awesome.
Here is my site: PresurePros, Inc Alpha
I haven't created the link or menu yet and I may shrink some of the vertical a bit.
Different bottom- no video PressurePros Alpha2
Your site look pretty nice and is easy to navigate, except for the photos under your portfolio tab. Even though the fx are OK, I didn't like it that the photos are shown in new windows, that the page layout and style are unrelated to the rest of the site, and that these pages have no navigation buttons. A bit confusing, I'd say.
Very professional site, I like it a lot. Nice video. :)Quote:

Good luck with the Saturday launch date. :)
www.nycgetaways.com/redesign09. We're aiming at something between a vision board and a Connell box. Promising. Looks OK in Explorer7 but in printing transparency of pngs is not observed. Will we have to group all graphics, export as jpg and reimport for publishing?
So many posts to this topic, I in may have missed the answer. Sorry if so.
Shaun
I think the same myself... I haven't been able to find an easy photo display system that can work in XWD with out a large amount of work... so I tried getting some of the picasa "out the door" exports... but they don't do the trick...
I'm at a loss about how to better make this multiple pictures display work...
any thoughts or better samples?
To all...
I thank you for sharing your sites, but there is one thing I see in many or most of them (including mine)...
I see a "spotted" kind of "clumsy" "staggered build" to the sited, or maybe the loading of the images, or the layered look, makes them seem "improvised" or not detailed enough...
Please don't get me wrong. I love the finish product! but the slow loading and the "piece by piece" building of the sites gives me a bit of a "home-made", "not-so professional" feeling...
Please feel free to disagree, but it just came up to me while looking at every ones great work...
I apologize in advance,if I'm out of place, but this is maybe that we are accustomed to build "images" in Xara, and that now we are building - sites - in the same way...?
The load order of a website built by WD might be somewhat different to a site built using tables, but at the end of the day seeing the graphics load slowly as the site is being rendered by your browser piece by piece is more a result of the speed of your internet connection, the bandwidth of the server hosting the site you are viewing and the size (in bytes) of the images used by the author.
Using many PNG images where JPG would be sufficient, will greatly add to the load time of a page.
Absolute postitioning CSS is just another way to tell the browser where to place things.
I have a made-for-fun only site just for my family and friends.
Here it is:
http://internetdrifter.110mb.com/
I am having a problem again that I reported earlier in a different thread. For some unknown reason (TO ME!) the pop-up of my head has a link attached to it that goes to something called Dream Template and I can't seem to get rid of it. Help?
I hope this worked (it's over 9mb)
While you do get the template page, the link on your site is:
http://internetdrifter.110mb.com/MouseOver
which is an invalid page so this page is automatically displayed by the host
http://www.110mb.com/404.php
which then redirects you to the template file.
Thanks. How do I get rid of that?
Right click the popup picture (photo) of you and select Web Properties.
Click the Mouse-over tab and select Do Nothing and see if that doesn't fix it.
That is already what is selected...
You have the link tab showing. Try clicking on the mouse-over tab.
