Re: Text or Object Outline or Stroke???
My favourite for this has always been the shadow tool ... This was done with the shadow tool in Web Designer 9 Premium

Although as has been mentioned before, as far as I'm aware it must be a bitmap to be added to a web page as an image. HTML won't let you work like that with text.
Re: Text or Object Outline or Stroke???
All you're doing again there Roly is creating a bitmap. The only shadow effect that you can use in Xara and ensure the text remains as text is a Wall shadow.

I don't follow that Egg. Do you mean that text will still be text in the HTML? or within Xara?
My example is still text in Xara and uses glow shadows ... it still edits with the text editor ... or am I on a different page here?

Re: Text or Object Outline or Stroke???
Hi Keith. No, I mean text can't have a stroke on a website, nor a shadow (apart from a wall shadow). If you want it to, it needs to be converted to a bitmap and is therefore not readable by search engines.
I think the thread is getting somewhat confused but I'm answering the op's question:

When I use the stroke or line gallery, the outline does not show up on the web page.

Hi Egg, I dont quite get what you are saying. In my example in post #10 you can change the font to any other font, if it were a bitmap you could not. What am I missing here? Thanks for your patience.

...
[edit - forget that, like egg said seems this thread is getting confused between shadow and outline requirements]
Re: Text or Object Outline or Stroke???
Another method is clone the text area, change the topmost text colour to the needed foreground.
Use the Feather tool and alter the Profile to suit.
The advantage is you get both an image and the original text.

Re: Text or Object Outline or Stroke???
Hi Mike, see the attachment for explanations on how to do. Let us know if this works for you. Oupps, the attachment feature is not working for me at this time, as soon as I can I will put the attachment in, sorry.
Question for moderator, is it just for me that the attachment feature is not working or is it a glitch in your application?
Ciao
