Re: Paths Features Wishes
@Fred
fair enough - it does not help that the mouse-over help says 'set origin position' and the help [when you find the grid in the help] calls it a 'transformation centre' - as far as I know it is for rotation only, but I am always willing to be corrected if wrong :D
Re: Paths Features Wishes
I was merely curious why osa thought the 'Origin Position" (actually, Transformation Center) option/tool should function as he/she described vs the way that it currently works.
Re: Paths Features Wishes
I'm pretty sure the general idea is to link [an] origin point to an object ... which I have to say could be useful in certain circumstances
and if it moved with the object, and everything else moved too that was linked with it, then you would have a sort of grouping that was not group hard or soft, that could transcend layers and pages even .... but perhaps this is digression

Re: Paths Features Wishes
Hi all! Perhaps I made some confusion, having used AI, I was expecting Xara to behave in the same way.
But the "change" in the tool I was asking for is quite simple. It's only to know the coordinates of the origin point of the object in the page. I think would be far more usefull than simply only knowing it's distance from the bottom left corner of the page.
This is how AI does it by simply showing the position of that reference point. And that could easily be transposed to Xara.

no idea how easy it would be. but it would have it's uses

Re: Paths Features Wishes
Hi osa,
I find it very difficult to position elements on a page with the coordinates beginning at the bottom left corner. Foprtunately, you can change the directions in which the coordinates operate. Perhaps that will help. Utilities menu | Options | Grid and Ruler tab.
Re: Paths Features Wishes
Thank you amoore I did not know that! At least is half the way the solution. :))

Re: Paths Features Wishes
The people who use the vector tools in this forum I would have thought to be lining up here to agree with Osa's suggestions for at least the custom path profiles and maybe the gradients along the paths. The Gradient one that I am not so sure about if it is a direct copy of Illy's CS5 I have only used twice in an actual drawing. "Keep path's when deleting middle vertex" I also think that it is so annoying when editing and deleting points the line defaults back to a straight line this happens a lot when your bringing PDF's into Xara products. I am +1 for most of your suggestions Osa so thank you for posting.
Re: Paths Features Wishes
I think it would be good for the program to have the features
but myself I don't draw lineart in xara [or vector generally] any more because precise control in real time without pausing a stroke is not possible due to line wobble/prompting [backseat-driving :D] - quicker to trace afterwards if vector is needed - pushing nodes wastes too much time, so for those who do then anything that speeds that up has got to be good I would have thought
