Just a small point CS3 supports PSB files and in some ways works faster than CS4.
What’s worth thinking about if you are going to upgrade to CS5,is to leave both versions installed on your computer then you can have one loader with plug-ins, brushes and other add-ons and say set up with sRGB colour space for web etc and the other version trimmed to the bone and set up with adobe 1998 colour space for high end image editing. The reasoning behind this is that all the extras that you gather and add to Photoshop start to dig in to your computer ram in a big way, so in my case I have one version set up lean for image editing which is the way I make a living and the other loaded with toys for web and 3D work, mainly for fun.
Re: Photoshop cs3 Resolution Problem?
well I only used the trial of CS3 and then CS4 came out so I bought that... so I was only going by what it says on adobe site: 'PSB is a new feature in CS4'
If there is backward compatability to CS3 that is useful to know, thanks.

Re: Photoshop cs3 Resolution Problem?
My own experience with CS4 is that it is a real memory hog compared to CS3 or CS2 just about the opposite conclusion of the video. Great talent shown on the video, I have watched a lot of his stuff.
Image shows the save as options on CS3 compared to CS4, I for one will not be doing any giant posters as CS4 runs out of steam on a 20x30 inch poster on my computer.
Re: Photoshop cs3 Resolution Problem?
I guess all these things are relative..
I just today had a problem with xtreme - imported a 255MB 300dpi [6522 x 7038 67MP] bitmap - made a duplicte and split it into 8 pieces - made a 300dpi bitmap copy of each, saved the file and closed
When I tried to reopen - out of memory message - and the original bitmap was replaced with the xara default
Reboot - ok I could open it again
Try a second time without a reboot - no joy
Memory hogged somewhere I think...
Anyway back to photoshop - CS4 is better than the PS6 I had before [mostly] :D
I still use PSElements 2 for the simple things though...
Re: Photoshop cs3 Resolution Problem?
It would be just great if the programs were made like Lego so you could have the bits you liked from each version to make your own. For me Photoshop 7 with a few bits from CS4 like camera raw and I would be very happy. :D
Re: Photoshop cs3 Resolution Problem?
PS, dont you just hate the xara default bitmap, I DO it keeps poping up on me. Rod
