The weight and wheel action is just right for me. Not found another mouse which has the 'right' feel for me.

If you look for a new mouse, have a look at these two:
Logitech G9: cable mouse, switch dpi using buttons on the mouse without any need to change settings in the operating system. weight can be adjusted and it comes with 2 interchangebable grips. doesnt need any driver being installed.
Microsoft Sidewinder X8 - wireless, dpi can be adjusted on the fly like the Logitech G9 and you can even created macros using mouse buttons. Currently my favourite by far.

Sledger,
I had an MX700, don't remember why I quit using it, possibly the rechargable batteries quit. I looked through my stock of junk to try it again and can only find the base. Odd...
Can't use a trackball, never could get the feel of those things, I also have a Wacom Tablet and same problem, I need to spend a LOT of time with it to try to make it do what I want. When I use a tablet, I usually use both the tablet and a mouse at the same time. I'm leaning toward the Logitech MX Revolution so far.
juergen,
I looked at the Sidewinder but it's wired, I need wireless.
Any others?
Yes I have since changed rechargeable batteries, currently using Engerizer 2500mAh. They charge up fine in the dock. Every now and then the contacts on the mouse and in the dock need cleaning. Other than this (and natural wear) it's as good as the day I bought it.

Sledger,
I found my old MX700 and thought I would try it again, but the base isn't seeing the signal from the mouse. Batteries are good, LED's show correct but no connection. Any suggestions?
Hi Jim,
If the mouse and the base device are showing connect but no movement of the mouse is working:
1. there may be a problem in the connection between the mouse circuits and the RF (radio frequency) circuits within the mouse. NOTE: This could be almost anything from a cold solder joint to a broken trace on the board or to a failed component.
2. there may be a problem in the mouse circuits. Same note as for 1 except it would be within the mouse circuitry.
3. there may be a problem between the RF circuits in the base unit and the connector (USB?) on the base unit. Same note as for 1. but only for the base device circuits and the USB converter circuits.
Cheaper and easier to replace than to find and fix any problem that exists. ;)
Jim pressing the 'Connect' button on the base and then the 'connect' button on the underside of the mouse may take a few attempts for a frequency channel to be established.
These mice might be used on several PC's in the one office, so they cycle through the 27MHz frequency channels to establish a unique one.
I suffer with a Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse (corded) because it works with Xara's scroll features and so far the Microsoft mice don't. Ticks me off because the Microsoft Optical mice have much better control.
