Re: AI(illustrator) import problem...
Chaps its is the old problem when an object is saved as a PDF it rasterises any transparent areas so therefore when you try an import it to Xara you get both Clipview (Clipping Mask) and bitmap effects and when you try to release them you get the broken down shapes. The only answer is to use the shapes and replicate the sort of Glassy style in Xara.

Re: AI(illustrator) import problem...
Thanks Peter, I should have remembered that :o :)
Back home from work and imported the file renamed to a pdf. All the shapes are there but with out the transparency.
Just a moment of applying some linear transparency to the existing shapes.

How do you do, when I am copy'n'paste a dialog in XARA will display, and if I select "Enhanced Metafile" it is no importing it correct some things are missing or not correct.. and the others are only bitmap...

Re: AI(illustrator) import problem...
Yes Sledger I get the same but the copy & Paste still works under metafile.

Re: AI(illustrator) import problem...
Reopen your file in AI CX3 and save as PDF/X (see screenshot below)
This opens fine in XaraXtremePro for me.
Set Window--> Show Printer Colors --> Simulate Printer Colours, otherwise it will look bright lime green.
Everything is then Vector data, XaraXtreme will even edit your blends.

Re: AI(illustrator) import problem...
I opened the original file in Adobe reader then saved a copy and renamed as a .pdf file. Then imported into Xtreme.
It imported fine, but looked as first reported as hollowed out showing the outline only.
Found that it is isn't really a hollowed out outline at all but rather that there are white rectangles covering the colored rectangles.
To fix just select and delete the white rectangles to uncover your design.

Re: AI(illustrator) import problem...
I might add RE: the colors.
Illustrator operates in simulated CMYK color space while Xara operates in RGB color space. So, your colors are going to appear much brighter and more saturated in RGB.
If you change the color space simulation (Window > Show Printer Colors > Simulate Print Colors) your colors should look closer to the Illustrator colors.
And when you export your file and convert it to CMYK the colors should be correct.
