This thread is a very interesting idea to help anyone with figure basics. I've attached a Xara file produced some time ago with a drawing of an artist wooden model. If anyone is interested in downloading it you should be able to pull it apart and reposition it to a degree. If you place it on a locked layer and work on a new layer on top you can draw over it to flesh it out, or put clothes on it etc. Its only full frontal I'm afraid, I'm sure I had a side view, which might be on a backup disk, so I'll look for it if anyone thinks its useful.

Ah! Thanks Masque!
Very well done and it has articulated joints! Quite handy!
Thanks. :)
Cheers Derek and James - they will be very helpful I'm sure.

Hi All,
I can agree with most of the comments made here, it was the way I instructed all my students when I taught Craft & Design in Scotland a few years back to draw figures for folio work. We stated of using DrawPlus with a library of parts using Acorns, then when we upgraded (changed) to PC's and used layers and we used Xara. The hard part was changing the scale to achieve a form of perspective which would look right as a drawing and we developed a formula for changing the X & Y scaling but I am blowed if I can remember it.
James,
Thank you very much. Really nice information. Very instructional.

Art S. Buck makes a some great Male & Female Artist Models. I've found these to be helpful with foreshortening.
Byrne makes a great book too, Dynamic Figure Drawing.
Terrific! Proportions of the human form has been one of the toughest things for me to master.
Thanks so much for this!
This would make a great guest tutorial, maybe with a little extrafleshing out.
