Late replying BB but I too confirm I always have 'Give new objects most recent attributes' turned off. I also totally agree with Mikes comment. Hope you can sort this :)

I do not believe this is an edge case. It is SOP for every application in history that uses text styles. At least of the dozens of applications I have used since 1989.

Mike, I was talking about a edge case for testing. a thing that Xara should be checking for and alerting the developer when the test fails. Firmly in Xara's court.
