I think you need to make the colours more avocado like, and draw your own fruit to match the lettering.
This makes a more cohesive design and only 4 colours.

I must admit, making logos for an app is not my idea of entertaining, especially when the client wants BOTH text and an icon. BOO!
I even like your second version better than mine! Although, I do like your first version better, easier to read.
P.S...Bob, let me know if you see more than four colors on your screen.
P.S.S...I swear, Bob, you're my new HERO!
Here's the design I was writing about in my PM to you:-
You can try opening it with different applications to see the default background colour in each.
Bob.
That is a cool logo, Bob! I tried opening it in two different applications, one was a white background the other was black. I tend to offer a fairly large png and a pdf to clients because that way they can either us the pdf (vector) to have a sign made (if they like) and they can use the png in their own personal advertising that they create themselves (for clients with limited ad budget).
Mark:)
P.S...I appreciate your PM, Bob.

The people at Wenatchee National Forest have put in a request for a logo that is a badge. They want to use it in their advertising and on clothing. I must admit this one was easy to imagine (once I took a look at some badges online). The thing that I did first was to create the badge on a white background but after designing it I felt it would look even better with a black background (like some of the cooler badges I saw online). I had to make a few changes to the deer but all in all, I think this is a successful image.
Impressions? Don't it look AWESOME with the black background! I especially like the text in the same color as the sun, way cool. Wenatchee is a fictional locale but all the same, if it were real, and not too far away, I might pay the place a visit. Cons? The deer is in black so I gave him a white stroke to make him stand out yet I can't help but wonder if I should have put the deer in a different color. What do you think?
How'd I do? Does this image stand the test of time? Would our fictional client be a happy camper (pun intended)?
Mark:)
I understand the need for trees, but the mountain range isn't really required. As for the trees you might try an alternative idea like a pine cone instead. Your trees are rather busy. There are still more elements than are really essential. You could easily lose the sun and the mountains and then you could change the badge colour so that you wouldn't need to outline the deer.
Just a few initial thoughts...even the deer isn't a must have in my opinion.
Bob.
Bob, both the trees and the mountains were specified in the brief. Only the sun and the deer were my idea. And I agree; the deer had to go to make it less cluttered (great idea) but I kept the sun because if I took it out then there would be only two items in the image and usually odd numbers of things look better than even numbers of things. Plus, I really do like the sun. It pulls the whole piece together and gives it a focus (and the text is in the same color as well). However, it DOES look better without that black deer with the white stroke. Good idea!
And I got rid of one of the trees (two trees still implies a forest).

A big improvement, Mark.
Just a couple of quick questions; Do you get graded for your work? Do you get to see the entries by others?
Bob.
Bob, there's no course grade for the work. It's just a "do it yourself" if you want to kind of thing. However, students are encouraged to post images on social media. But I don't want feedback from people who don't know what they are talking about so, I post here at TalkGraphics Forum. This way people who chime in their two cents have a better idea of what they are talking about, like you, mike and most others. I just wanted to up my game and I'm not afraid of a little hard work. It was worth it. I've learned so much. I learned I didn't know that my logo designs needed much work. And also, I learned that just because someone has a background in art (or even graphic design) doesn't necessarily mean that they know logo design specifically. I see a lot of logos that are made by great artists but I look and say to myself, "Bob, would definitely tell them what's wrong with that logo,". LOL! After doing some deep soul searching, I have given myself a "B" (for a grade) but I used to be a "D" or even an "F" and didn't know it. But I know better now. Give me a year and I bet I can be an "A". I never went to graphic design school but I've studied graphic design on my own since I was in my 20's (I'm 52 now) and I have had art classes in school and college, and I even have a background in photography and I'm pretty good at it. But logos is something I want to specialize in and this course was just the ticket for me.
Mark
P.S...For anyone interested in this course, it's designed by two graphic designers who, I believe, are fairly well known (I don't know them myself though):

Assignment LOGO #26

Today's logo is for an online wine delivery company called "My Wine". My Wine wanted, definitely, the color of merlot (red) wine. We could have a glass of wine or a bottle pouring and somehow, make a symbol that stands for delivery. I drew this image; it's all me, the wine glass and wine, that is. The font I chose is called Carlington Regular. And, with a couple of glyphs, I made the text all swashy and pretty. Note how the text just snuggles up to the glass. I also put an arrow on the wine showing that it was in motion (delivery symbol).
Impressions? I think the glass is SWEET! I even put a light reflection on the glass. If you're wondering how I drew this, I used the pencil tool and turned the smoothing up all the way and I still simplified the path to make it look really smooth. Then I used the shape builder tool to combine the shapes. Cons? Trying to figure out how to create a reflection in the glass without creating more than two more colors took some brainstorming.
So, what's the verdict? Will My Wine pour on the love? Or will they put a cork in the logo romance?
