Very nice Lilu! Is the moon/clouds a construct, or the same actual shot? If it was, then that is a truely great shot. To get the clouds so puffy and the moon so clear is a once in a lifetime event.
Thanks you very much for the compliments on my shots. I do like them very much indeed. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Almost as much as I like the compliment. Thanks again. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Lilu,
Now that was a lucky shot... Ask Maya, she has been taking pics of heavenly bodies much longer than I.

Nice and serene painting Lilu. Nice effect.
Here is the best of tonights shots so far... The night is young and it is the weekend!

Grey asked to see a moon/sunset transparency, so here is an obvious one with tonights moon shot...

http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif WOWEEEEEEE! John and Lilu -- you both have developed and created some wonderful night images while I was away --- absolutely beautiful!!!
Great to have you, Lilu, join in and share your great images -- love the oil painting skyscape too! Wonderful lighting and textures/shading. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
And John, those beautiful sky colors are amazing -- that was really a great group you caught! The recent moon pic looks like you caught a bit of the earthshine in the second one -- both really nice ones! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Well, along the lines of the moonflower idea again I created this one (with a mermaid catching fireflies too -- mermaid night lights) just out of a bit of whimsy. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Maya,
Now yours is great! You are really developing a full line of moon flowers.
Here is an idea, see if you can take it and run with it a bit. How about a moonflower vine, hanging from a trellis. With Cup like flowers like tulips instead of flat flowers like on this one. The moon in the center of each flower.... Blue, White and orange full moons throw a couple shaded (cresent) moons in there as well...
Took a couple more moon pics tonight right before she went to bed... This one turned out really nice... (Now Mikey... This pic is 200%, so the detail is as good as it is gonna get)

Here is a star picture... It was a really dark night with NO clouds. If I didn't have as much light polution, I could have gotten a better shot... ISO 1600

http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Nice ones John! Thanks! I may get around to trying more on the moonflower theme later. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Your first star pic turned out pretty good! It looks like 3 of the 4 handle stars from the big dipper, Mizar at top then the two lower ones leading towards the bowl of the dipper, the small trangular fainter star pattern to the right and the others there would be part of the tail end of the constellation Draco, the dragon (presuming these stars are what I think they are http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)...but it's hard to tell from just the pic as partial star patterns can be confusing in small photos with so many background stars picked up by the camera.

I think you got it right. The picture was taken pointing towards the west-north-west from here. A little further towards the north than the sunset this evening.
