I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on creating a scrolling text window in Flash 5. The book shows you one way but it is only for editable text. I don't want my scrolling text to be editable. I just want a fixed size text area and a couple of arrows to allow people to go up and down in the text.
I would appreciate any help

This is for Flash 5:

If by some chance you're using Flash 4 this one will work for you:

Hope this helps,

For Flash 5, perhaps you should use this one. It looks more like what you were asking for:

I created a very effective text scrolling window using the tutorial I found here:
Virtual FX Tutorials
It works great and I'm really pleased with it. However, I tested it on IE5/Mac and the browser went haywire, it also fell down on NS4.7/Mac, yet it works great on NS and IE on the PC.
Is there something I should know about Flash on the Mac? (sounds like a 70's anthem!)

Big Frank,
are you loading an external text file?
Does this file contain HTML tags like it does in the example in the tutorial you are reffering to?
-
Yes, I did use the external file - see my page here for more info.
Please note - this flash scroller falls down when used in IE or Netscape on a Mac. I don't know why, but it does. If anybody can elaborate I'd be grateful.

Yes, I remember reading on some other Flash board that loading variables externally WITH HTML may cause browser crash on Mac.
