how would i make something looklike shiny plastc? in photo paint it was easy just use the plastic filter, how would i achieve that effect in xara? i just dont want to have to import something into pp if i can do it here. i am sure it can be be done

A lot depends on the object, you could try adding highlights in various areas using a lighter shade of the base colour or even the bevel tool.
If you post a copy of the shape/image you want to look plastic I am sure you will get more ideas.

here is what i came up with
and this is what i am tryig to achieve. it is a photoshop tut that i am trying to duplicate in xara. but i cant seem to get the 3d and shiney effect i can do it in pp and ps and psp but not here. mainly since there isnt a plastic filter. but it is more fun trying to do it in xara with out all the plugins.
Draw base object - colour mid/light grey, duplicate object and colour - lighter grey feather slightly, duplicate again - colour white feather more.
