Default no fill color on Photo & Graphic Designer
Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to set it by default to not fill color with closed paths and shapes when creating a new document. I know that it is possible to change the default black fill and line color to other ones, but I would like to get rid of the fill color by default when the program starts. If you have any ideas, I would be grateful for your help.
Regards.

Welcome to TalkGraphics Pistashek.
I thought it would be possible via 'save template' but it appears not. I can set the line width to 2px, stroke = red, fill = none. The template retains a 2px width red stroke but the fill reverts to black :(
Re: Default no fill color on Photo & Graphic Designer
I know, it works only when you change the fill color to blue for example and save as a template. But it does not work when I save as the lack of color (then the black fill returns). I thought it could be solved somehow, but probably not in this case. Thanks for some response
Re: Default no fill color on Photo & Graphic Designer
Since I am a new user of Photo & Graphic Designer and I have not yet discovered everything in it, I would like to know if there is such an option as the ability to define my own styles, for example objects, shapes, fillings and many others? (I know there are text styles in the program). The option of predefining different styles is found in competing graphic programs such as Illustrator, Affinity Designer and even CorelDraw. Maybe it is here but I do not know where.

For whatever it's worth, I did it.
What I did was made a rectangle and set my line then cleared the fill color and saved it as a default template, and it seems to work. Hopefully I didn't make a stupid mistake and it seems like a ellipse or qny other shape should work too.

The only other way is to draw your shapes etc. in the Guides Layer with no fill and line size then copy the shape and paste it in Layer 1 where you can add fill and line size. The Jpeg and Xara file will explain better. Hope this helps.

Good solution Stygg! =D> I hadn't thought of that approach, i did it the simplest way I thought might work, which it did for me.

Re: Default no fill color on Photo & Graphic Designer
Following on from the above mentioned methods, might be to:
- add a shape with the style you require, for example an ellipse with a 1px line width with no fill, to the pasteboard
- make sure the General option is set to: "give new objects most recent attributes"
- save document as your default template
- open a new document, tap the ellipse on the pasteboard before drawing
If you have a number of styles you want to regularly use, you could add other predefined shapes to the pasteboard.

Re: Default no fill color on Photo & Graphic Designer
@jonopen - that's how I do it
it does not matter what the line width is on your style shape, just so long as it has one and nofill
you can then create closed shapes with the freehand tool, the shape tool, and make quickshapes that have outlines - all with no fill - and you can change the line width at will as you work
but if you create a shape with no fill and no outline [sometimes necessary eg for transparency grouping] the style will of course reset to default - but all you need do is reclick the style shape
template style shapes are very useful - eg for clicking on to set a line width especially one not in the drop down, or strokeshapes [usually quicker than the line gallery..] - just about anything you need a lot
Re: Default no fill color on Photo & Graphic Designer
Just left-click the 'no colour' icon on the Colour Bar immediately after opening a new document; one click a document is not a big burden.

Define all your wishes in one document and keep it open at all times and copy and paste what you need into your new design.
One day Xara will allow uploads to the On-line Content Catalogue (my wish) so that you can customise it with all your own filter and shapes.
