Quick Shape Assistance Please
Hello, perhaps someone can assist me with the following.
Is there a shortcut / way of creating even sided petals with the quick shape star tool. So to make a flower with 5 petals I start with a 5 point star, I am trying to ensure that the two sides of each petal are equal, but can only get the petals to pull one side at a time. I believe there is a way, but I cannot figure it or find any tuts relating to this.
Look forward to your assistance, its probably as simple as :)

Welcome to Talk Graphics. I don't know of any keyboard combinations that can do what you are asking, I think you just have to do it by eye and hope for the best.
I made this topical stylistic poinsettia in a few minutes this morning. The fact that it isn't quite symmetrical is part of its charm. (click on thumbnail to enlarge)

Re: Quick Shape Assistance Please
here's some thing you can try - but I don't guarantee it will work any better than bob's idea
make your quick shape star - convert it to editable shape - snap it so that one of the petals is vertical - select the node at the base of the petal and use nudge to 'widen'/'narrow' - you still need to do each side in turn, but if you use nudge [set at appropriate value] you can do each side equally - you will need to rotate and snap each petal in turn to ensure symmetry
it's a long way round, but I don't know of a quicker one either... but I guess you might be able to use contours and intersection... hummm
Re: Quick Shape Assistance Please
Try Ctrl+Shift+Drag.
Alternatively, ensure the shape have a vertical symmetry.
Drag a side. Clone and Flip Horizontally.

Re: Quick Shape Assistance Please
ctrl+shift+drag will increase both sides with the star shape, but [and there's always a but... :D] unless you place it in exactly the right place the resulting increases will not be symmetric...
Re: Quick Shape Assistance Please
Hello, thank you for all that assistance. Each thought has a good deal of merit, flipping and joining is good, but the one I was after was the ctrl+shif+drag was the one I was after :):):)
One happy little Xara designer here now.
Thanks again.

and thanks from me too, because there are always things to learn/re-learn, and I wasn't aware of this modifier [ which does not appear to work on all quick shapes, or at least not in the same way :)
