Northern Cardinal
I took this early spring last year. The background is the side of the house across the street from me, I shoot wide open to blur the background and I thought it made an interesting color combination along with the little bit of green leaves just starting to open. Hope you like it.

Re: Northern Cardinal
Excellent composition, mood and detail. Did you require a lot of waiting for the shot, or were you lucky and ready?

Re: Northern Cardinal
Thanks all and Happy New Year!
Spondoolix....Lucky is the key word for sure. I will say that I go outside every day, sometimes for 4 hours plus, sometimes for just an hour and the birds are used to me, I've taken about 4000 shots in the last year and they are used to the sound of my camera. I saw the potential for this shot, but in reality, to get a bird, any bird at the right spot at the right time is really "getting lucky". In addition, I shoot birds at 6fps and have noticed that the first shot never seems to get the look I was wanting, but maybe the 5th shot does, I call that getting lucky.

Re: Northern Cardinal
I really admire your patience, it's obvious from the result that it's just a bit more than point-and-click.
The photo really draws you in to the subject.
As Gary said, there's a definite resemblance to your Xara artwork.
Bob.
